Erra Cheera – The Beginning Movie Review

Erra Cheera – The Beginning is a Telugu horror–suspense thriller that blends supernatural elements with a strong mother–daughter emotional core. Presented by Baby Damari, the film is produced under Sri Padmayala Entertainments and Sri Suman Venkatadri Productions by N.V.V. Subba Reddy and Ch. Venkata Suman.

The story, screenplay, and direction are handled by Suman Babu, who also plays a pivotal role. Music is composed by Pramod Puligarla, with cinematography by Chandu and editing by Venkata Prabhu. The film released in theatres today and aims to offer a restrained yet engaging horror experience suitable for family viewing.

Story

Dasu (Kamal Kamaraju) marries Avantika (Karunya Choudhary), but his greed for property leads to a shocking tragedy. Dasu’s grandmother, Pannee Parvathi, kills Avantika. However, Avantika’s story does not end with her death. She returns as a troubled spirit, wandering in search of her missing mother, slowly turning into a frightening presence because of her unfulfilled emotions.

At the same time, honest police officer Shivakumar (Suman Babu) is transferred to Shewetha City. Soon, his wife starts seeing a woman in a red saree who looks exactly like her own late mother. This strange resemblance creates fear and confusion, and mysterious supernatural incidents begin to occur.

As the mystery grows, questions arise: Who is Avantika truly looking for? What is the connection between her spirit and Shivakumar’s family? And how does Saripoka Trikoteswara Swamy (also played by Suman Babu), a man with strong spiritual powers, step in to bring an end to the chaos? These mysteries drive the story forward.

Performances

Suman Babu makes a strong impression both as an actor and as a filmmaker. In his two contrasting roles, he stays calm yet powerful on screen. His performance as the police officer stands out, with his serious approach adding strength and balance to the intense, supernatural storyline.

Karunya Chowdary fits well in the role of Avantika, portraying fear and emotional pain in a natural way. As the vengeful spirit, she leaves a strong impact, especially in scenes filled with emotion and tension.

Baby Sai Tejaswini, the granddaughter of veteran actor Rajendra Prasad, surprises with a memorable performance in an important role, bringing warmth and emotional depth to the film. Supporting actors such as Ali, Annapurnamma, Geetha Singh, Satya Krishnan, Bhadram, Jeeva, and Raghu Babu play their parts effectively, making the narrative feel lively and well-supported throughout.

Technical Aspects

Chandu’s cinematography stands out with its dark palette and shadow-laden frames, perfectly suiting the horror mood and amplifying the film’s eerie vibe. Instead of depending on loud jump scares, the background score and sound design smartly use subtle sounds to slowly build and sustain tension, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

The mother-emotion sequences are handled with a lot of care and maturity, striking the right balance without drifting into melodrama. The crisp editing keeps the narrative tight and engaging, with the interval block and climax emerging as strong high points that firmly grip the viewer’s attention.

Adding to the film’s strength, the producer deserves special appreciation for maintaining solid production values. The visual and technical quality is elevated throughout, all while preserving the film’s grounded and realistic tone.

Verdict

Erra Cheera –The Beginning offers a refreshing take on horror by blending fear with emotion.
The mother child bond adds depth beyond routine scares.
Controlled horror makes it family-friendly yet engaging.
A worthy watch for those seeking meaningful thrills with heart.
