A Beautiful Breakup, starring Thaksh and Matylda in the lead roles, is written and directed by Ajith Vasan Uggina. Designed as a unique romantic horror thriller, the film released on February 13 under the banner of 5 Natures Movies International, with presentation by Mudragada Rangarao and Uggina Satyanarayana Rao. The music is composed by legendary maestro Ilaiyaraaja.
The film has been receiving an excellent response across all locations and is enjoying a successful theatrical run. Marking this achievement, the team hosted a success meet and also revealed that the film, originally made in English, will soon be dubbed into Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam for a wider audience.
Expressing gratitude to the audience, director Ajith Vasan Uggina shared that love is a universal emotion that transcends language and culture, though it carries deep emotional pain. He explained that this idea inspired him to make the film in English initially rather than limiting it to a single language.
He also recalled how the concept of a film with just two characters initially worried Thaksh, who questioned whether such a minimalistic film could work when even large-scale films struggle to succeed. However, the director reassured him and moved forward with confidence.
Ajith added that being associated with Ilaiyaraaja’s music is a matter of great pride and credited Thaksh for trusting him completely and supporting the project from start to finish. He praised both Thaksh and Matylda for carrying the film entirely on their shoulders, stating that despite being newcomers, they delivered performances on par with international standards. According to him, the absence of negative feedback reflects how convincingly they portrayed a realistic couple and connected with the story’s emotional depth.
Hero Thaksh thanked the media for their consistent encouragement and informed that Matylda could not attend the event due to an important overseas project, while assuring that a grand press meet will be organized soon.
Speaking about the film’s journey, he said the story began as a small concept but evolved into something extraordinary under the director’s vision. He revealed that even Ilaiyaraaja sir found the subject highly challenging and unique, which itself highlights the depth of the narrative.
Thaksh added that the team felt they had already achieved success with just a single word of appreciation from the maestro. He described the film as a rare story revolving around souls trapped in a bottle, presented in a way audiences have never experienced before.
He further noted that making a film with only two characters is extremely demanding, but Ilaiyaraaja’s powerful background score significantly enhanced the emotional impact. Plans are underway to host a grand music-focused event in Chennai. Thaksh also appreciated the technical team for their exceptional work in cinematography, editing, and sound design, stating that their efforts helped shape the film’s global appeal.
Actor Balagam Sanjay, who attended as a special guest, mentioned that he was impressed by the film’s title and concept. He said the team shares a close bond with him and that he has been hearing very positive reports about the movie. He congratulated the entire team for the strong reception and emphasized that Ilaiyaraaja’s involvement is a major strength. He wished the film great success in its worldwide expansion.
