Audiences Are Truly Enjoying The Raja Saab; Working with Prabhas Is an Experience I’ll Cherish Forever – Nidhhi Agerwal
This Sankranthi, The Raja Saab has emerged as one of the biggest crowd-pullers of the season, winning hearts across age groups. With families and children enjoying the film in large numbers, Prabhas’ engaging performance, director Maruthi’s fresh approach to the horror-fantasy genre, and the grand production scale of People Media Factory have together created a visually rich and entertaining cinematic experience. Sharing her joy over the film’s success, actress Nidhhi Agerwal opened up in a recent interaction.
Nidhhi expressed immense happiness over the response the film is receiving. She said the team spent nearly three years bringing The Raja Saab to life, and seeing audiences appreciate their hard work feels extremely rewarding. While the film saw a slightly mixed reaction initially, she feels that word-of-mouth has worked strongly in its favour, with the movie now enjoying steady box-office success. Speaking about her role as Bessie, a nun, she said the character demanded a serene and divine presence, which required careful preparation in terms of look, costumes, and body language.
After portraying a royal character in Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Nidhhi found it exciting to step into a completely different space in The Raja Saab, where she plays an almost angelic presence. She shared that listening to the full narration gave her confidence that the story would connect well with audiences. The concept of a divine force standing against dark, manipulative evil powers, presented through psychological and tantric elements, deeply impressed her.
Recalling the shoot experience, Nidhhi said working alongside comedians like Saptagiri, Prabhas Sreenu, and VTV Ganesh made the sets lively and filled with laughter. During a demanding phase when she was shooting simultaneously for Hari Hara Veera Mallu and The Raja Saab, she had to travel constantly with very little rest. She credits the support and care shown by the team during that time as one of the reasons the journey never felt exhausting, despite the challenges.
Talking about Prabhas, Nidhhi described him as incredibly warm and grounded. She said he never carries the aura of a pan-India superstar on set and treats everyone with the same friendliness and respect. His humility and kindness left a lasting impression on her. She particularly admired his performance in the hospital sequence and fondly recalled the many casual conversations they shared about cinema and life during the shoot.
She also praised director Maruthi for his clear vision and efficient working style. According to her, he always knew exactly what needed to be shot each day and handled multi-artist scenes with ease, ensuring a smooth and comfortable atmosphere on set. His ability to manage large setups while keeping the mood light made the experience enjoyable for everyone.
Nidhhi highlighted producer TG Vishwa Prasad’s dedication, saying that backing a film of this scale requires immense passion. She noted that there were no compromises when it came to visual effects, sets, or overall production quality, which is evident on screen. While acting in VFX-heavy scenes was initially challenging due to the need to imagine elements that weren’t physically present, she gradually adapted and enjoyed the process.
Addressing the common belief about strange occurrences during horror film shoots, Nidhhi clarified that nothing unusual happened during The Raja Saab. However, she admitted that she is personally scared of horror content and often sleeps with the lights on while listening to the Hanuman Chalisa.
Proud of her roots, Nidhhi said she strongly identifies with Telugu cinema. During a recent visit to Mumbai, she noticed how people spoke highly of the scale and quality of Telugu films. She added that she genuinely wished for every Sankranthi release to succeed, as the industry grows stronger when all films perform well.
Reflecting on her journey, she shared that working with Pawan Kalyan in Hari Hara Veera Mallu taught her the true meaning of courage, while Prabhas inspired her with his humility despite immense success. Currently juggling multiple projects three in Telugu and two in Hindi Nidhhi revealed that she has decided to settle in Hyderabad. Calling acting her childhood dream, she said she feels grateful to be living it today and hopes to continue doing meaningful, purpose-driven roles in the future.
