“Draupathi 2” Director Mohan G Responds to Chinmayi’s Remarks on the Song EmKoney (Nelaraaje – Telugu)
After the release of the first single EmKoney (Nelaraaje – Telugu) from Draupathi 2, director Mohan G has reacted to singer Chinmayi Sripaada’s public apology regarding her involvement in the song.
Chinmayi, who lent her voice to the track, issued a statement saying she was unaware of the film’s ideological background and would not have recorded the song had she known more about it.
In response, Mohan G said he was disappointed by her comments. He explained that he had personally selected Chinmayi for the song and that the recording was done without the composer present. He added that Chinmayi was only briefed about the tone and style needed, and no details about the film’s story or ideology were discussed.
Mohan G expressed surprise that Chinmayi made her statement without checking with him or the composer. He requested her to either clarify her remarks or consider deleting the tweet.
He further urged the public not to attack other cast or crew members, stating that any criticism should be directed at him alone. Targeting others, he said, was unfair.
Questioning Chinmayi’s reference to “contradictory ideologies,” he remarked that even her surname “Sripaada” reflects a connection to faith, leaving him unsure about what ideological differences she was referring to.
