Jared Leto Says Tron: Ares Is Releasing at the “Perfect Time” As AI Dominates Global Conversations
Disney’s much-awaited sci-fi spectacle Tron: Ares hits theatres this week in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu and according to its lead star Jared Leto, the film couldn’t have arrived at a more fitting moment.
At the London premiere, Jared shared with Digital Spy that Tron: Ares feels especially relevant now:
“It’s coming out at the perfect time, when AI is such a massive topic. We started working on this movie nine or ten years ago, and back then, hardly anyone outside research circles was talking about AI. Now, it’s everywhere part of everyone’s daily life, whether we realize it or not.”
Leto, who has been championing the project for nearly a decade, said that the movie’s central focus on Artificial Intelligence and ethics feels “eerily timely.”
Co-star Jodie Turner-Smith echoed the sentiment, explaining how the production’s timing gave the story an added layer of significance:
“We shot this about a year and a half ago, and yet it feels so prescient. When Jared first began pushing this forward years ago, AI wasn’t part of mainstream conversation. But the filmmakers managed to make it feel deeply relevant like it belongs in today’s dialogue.”
Reflecting on the film’s themes, Jodie added that Tron: Ares doesn’t try to provide all the answers about AI instead, it encourages audiences to question how humanity and technology can coexist ethically.
“We’re living in the question. It’s about keeping AI human-centered. It doesn’t have to be doom and gloom this technology can change the world for the better if it’s in the right hands.”
The film also explores the darker side of innovation through the character Julian Dillinger, portrayed by Evan Peters a reminder of what happens when ethics are stripped away from power.
Tron: Ares, starring Jared Leto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, and Jeff Bridges, releases in Indian theatres on October 10, 2025, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu
