The trailer of Rakasa is finally out, and it gives a much clearer idea of the film’s world — a mix of folklore, myth, and survival, all presented on a grand scale with a touch of natural humour.
The story is set in a village trapped in an age-old ritual. A powerful voiceover hints that the sacrifices made by the villagers are not for an ordinary being, but for a terrifying Brahma Rakshasa. This immediately sets a dark and mysterious tone. At the center of this world is Veera, played by Sangeeth Shobhan, whose arrival slowly changes the flow of events.
What starts off as simple, everyday moments gradually reveals something much more intense. The humour comes naturally through the characters, but underneath it, there’s a constant sense of danger. Dialogues about falling meteors, animals turning into lifeless bodies overnight, and the need for sacrifice to survive raise the stakes. Visual hints like ancient scripts, ritual symbols, and skeletal remains suggest that this cycle has been going on for generations and escaping it may not be easy.
Visually, the trailer stands out with its rich and immersive setting. From torch-lit interiors to massive fortress structures, everything feels raw and rooted in folklore. As the trailer progresses, the scale keeps growing, introducing action, supernatural elements, and a looming threat. The background score plays a big role here, starting off light and gradually becoming intense, matching the rising tension.
The buzz around Rakasa is also growing strong. The title glimpse has crossed 1.9 million views, while the teaser has gone beyond 3 million. Songs like “Rapappa,” “Padhe Padhe,” and “Snake Dance” have all crossed a million views, turning the album into a chartbuster and increasing the film’s reach.
On the release side, the film is set for a wide global launch. It will release across more than 350 screens internationally, including the US, UK, Europe, Canada, and Australia. Overseas premieres are planned for April 2, 2026, ahead of its worldwide release on April 3.
The film’s digital rights have been acquired by Netflix, while Saregama has secured the audio rights.
Rakasa stars Sangeeth Shobhan in a more layered role compared to his previous films, alongside Nayan Sarika. The film also features a strong supporting cast including Vennela Kishore, Brahmaji, Tanikella Bharani, Ashish Vidyarthi, and others, adding both depth and entertainment.
Produced by Niharika Konidela and Umesh Kumar Bansal under Pink Elephant Pictures along with Zee Studios, the film marks the directorial debut of Manasa Sharma. With a solid technical team handling music, visuals, and production design, the film aims to create a fully immersive experience.
Overall, Rakasa looks like a well-packaged theatrical film that blends folklore, emotions, humour, and scale. With growing buzz and strong backing, it is gearing up to offer a unique big-screen experience when it releases worldwide on April 3, 2026.
