I Was Waiting for a Film Like ‘Hey Balwanth’” – Hero Suhas
After delivering successful films like Little Hearts, Raju Weds Rambhai, and Eesha, the hit combination of Bunny Vaas and Vamsi Nandipati is returning with a full-fledged entertainer titled Hey Balwanth (earlier titled Hey Bhagwan). The film is being made under the banners of Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vaas Works, with B. Narendra Reddy producing it under Trishul Visionary Studios. Directed by Gopi Achhar, the movie stars Suhas, Shivani Nagaram, Naresh, and anchor Sravanti in prominent roles and is gearing up for release on February 20. Ahead of the release, Suhas interacted with the media and shared several interesting insights.
On the title change
Suhas revealed that the original title Hey Bhagwan had to be altered following suggestions from the censor board, as the word “Bhagwan” refers to God. The team then finalized Hey Balwanth. Along with the title, even Naresh’s character name was modified, and the censor board also reviewed the film’s core concept during the process.
About his character
In the film, Suhas plays an ambitious young man who dreams of becoming a businessman from a very young age and aims to take charge of his father’s business. The narrative explores the challenges he encounters and the unexpected truth about his father’s profession. He described the film as a complete entertainer, adding that his role is packed with humor and lively moments.
On the quick production timeline
The actor mentioned that Hey Balwanth is one of the fastest films he has completed and released after finalization. Despite the rapid schedule, he assured that the film maintains strong technical and production quality. He even wondered whether he would ever be part of such a fast-paced project again in his career.
Why he chose the film
Suhas said he instantly connected with the story when he first heard it. The blend of emotional depth and entertainment particularly appealed to him. According to him, the final output exceeded their expectations and turned out far better than initially imagined.
On being called ‘Suhas 2.0’
Responding modestly, he said he wouldn’t use such big labels but expressed strong confidence that the film will mark a positive phase in his career.
Handling success and setbacks
Suhas admitted that he puts sincere effort into every film and naturally feels disappointed when success doesn’t come. However, he quickly moves forward and prepares for his next project instead of dwelling on failures.
Expectations from ‘Hey Balwanth’
He shared that the entire team has immense faith in the film. Producer Vamsi Nandipati, he said, gave the team great confidence throughout the journey. After facing consecutive setbacks, many well-wishers, including his wife, advised him to be more selective with scripts. He then took a short break and chose Hey Balwanth, which he believes strongly in.
On his Tamil film ‘Mandaadi’
Suhas revealed that he plays the main antagonist in the Tamil film Mandadi. He described it as a long-awaited look and character for him, adding that the opportunity came after the makers noticed his performance in Ambajipeta. He also said the film’s result could open more doors for him in Tamil cinema.
On audience support
He acknowledged that many people root for his success because they see him as a sincere performer. He considers this goodwill a matter of luck and motivation.
Working in Tamil cinema
Talking about his Tamil projects, he said he is exploring villain roles with distinct looks and admitted feeling slightly nervous about how audiences will receive this new avatar.
Shift to comedy
Though he is known for serious roles in films, Suhas pointed out that he began his career doing comedy in short films. Even his wife encouraged him to take up more entertaining roles after watching Hey Balwanth, and he feels fortunate to have landed such a film at the right time.
Career outlook and future projects
Suhas said he is content with his career journey so far and believes that a big success with Hey Balwanth will further boost his satisfaction. He also shared that his wife watched the film and thoroughly enjoyed it, telling him he should continue doing such entertaining subjects. Up next, he is working on a project under Karthik Subbaraj’s banner, with a story provided by him and direction by one of his associates. Additionally, he is listening to a few Telugu scripts that will be finalized soon.
