Born in a small village in Andhra Pradesh, B. Nagi Reddi began a remarkable journey that spanned ninety-two inspiring years. At just nineteen, he travelled to Burma, where his sharp business sense and hard work brought him early success. From there, his life unfolded like a beautiful story much like the magical tales of Chandamama, the beloved children’s magazine he later founded with his close friend, Sri Chakrapani, which became a treasured part of many childhoods.
B. Nagi Reddi’s contributions were vast and transformative. He established one of India’s finest printing presses, bringing knowledge and creativity into countless homes. Through Vijaya Productions, he produced several landmark films that left a lasting impact on Indian cinema and continue to inspire generations of filmmakers and audiences.
His vision expanded further with the creation of Vijaya-Vauhini Studios, which went on to become Southeast Asia’s largest film studio a center of creativity, innovation, and excellence.
Beyond films and publishing, his compassion for society led him to establish South India’s first multi-speciality hospital, making advanced healthcare accessible to thousands. For him, every venture was more than a business; it was an act of service, guided by his belief in karma yoga, where work itself was a form of worship.
This book, “B. Nagi Reddi – A Son’s Memoir”, written by his distinguished son Viswam, beautifully captures the life and legacy of this humble yet legendary man. It not only traces his extraordinary achievements but also reflects the values of simplicity, dedication, and vision that defined his life.
