Suhas-Keerthy’s Uppu Kappurambu Promises Laughter, Chaos & Heart

Prime Video Drops Trailer of Suhas-Keerthy Suresh's Telugu Satire Uppu Kappurambu, Streaming July 4

Prime Video has unveiled the trailer of its much-awaited Telugu Original film Uppu Kappurambu, set to stream exclusively on the platform starting July 4. Featuring Suhas and National Award-winning actor Keerthy Suresh in the lead, the film is a quirky satire laced with emotion, humour, and a distinctly local flavour.

Backed by Radhika Lavu under Ellanar Films and directed by Ani I.V. Sasi, with writing by Vasanth Maringanti, Uppu Kappurambu unfolds in the fictional 1990s village of Chitti Jayapuramwhere an unusual crisis takes centre stage: there’s no space left to bury the dead. As absurd as it sounds, this forms the backdrop for a sharply written social comedy with plenty of heart.

Keerthy Suresh plays Apoorva, an idealistic young woman who is newly appointed as the village head. Her arrival disrupts the status quo in a village where people are not used to seeing a woman in power. She finds an unlikely ally in Chinna (played by Suhas), the eccentric graveyard keeper with his own set of quirks and intentions. What follows is a wild ride of misadventuresfrom a bizarre lucky draw to assign grave plots to a growing storm of village-level chaos.

Speaking about the film, Keerthy Suresh shared, “Uppu Kappurambu is unlike anything I’ve done before. Apoorva is fierce, grounded, and thrown into a setting where every step feels like a battle. What makes this story special is how it uses humour and irony to reflect real issues in a way that’s both thought-provoking and entertaining.”

Suhas, known for his strong performances in rooted stories, added, “Playing Chinna was a blast. He’s a simple man dealing with a very strange situation. The trailer is just a tastethere’s so much more madness, fun, and emotion in the film. It’s a story that’s bold and funny without ever being preachy, and I think audiences will connect with it instantly.”

Also starring Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari, the film is set to premiere globally on Prime Video in Telugu with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, along with subtitles in 12 languages including English.

Uppu Kappurambu promises a fresh and hilarious take on village politics, gender roles, and the unexpected bureaucracy of deathall wrapped in one entertaining package. Streaming begins July 4, only on Prime Video.
