 SS Rajamouli Unveils India’s First Dolby Certified Postproduction Facility at Annapurna Studios  

Hyderabad, January 9, 2025: Annapurna Studios has marked a historic milestone by launching India’s first Dolby-certified postproduction facility for cinema and home. The cutting-edge facility was unveiled by acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli in the presence of actor and Annapurna Studios Vice Chairman Nagarjuna Akkineni.  

Developed in collaboration with Dolby, this state-of-the-art facility aims to elevate the standards of Indian cinema by offering advanced audio-visual capabilities that align with global benchmarks.  

SS Rajamouli, whose Academy Award-winning film RRR became the first Indian movie to release in Dolby Cinema, expressed his enthusiasm for this breakthrough. Speaking at the event, he said, “During the making of RRR, we had to travel to Germany to grade the film in Dolby Vision. It was disappointing not to have such a facility in India at the time. But today, I’m elated to see a Dolby Vision grading facility at Annapurna Studios. By the time my next film releases, audiences will also have access to multiple Dolby Cinemas across India. Watching a film in Dolby Vision transforms the storytelling experience with crystal-clear clarity and enhanced visuals. I can’t wait for audiences to witness it.”  

Nagarjuna Akkineni highlighted the studio's legacy of innovation. He remarked, “Annapurna Studios has always strived to push boundaries, from pioneering virtual production to now housing India’s first Dolby-certified postproduction facility. As we celebrate 50 years of Annapurna Studios, this collaboration with Dolby reaffirms our commitment to setting new benchmarks for Indian cinema.”  

Executive Director Supriya Yarlagadda called the facility a game-changer for Indian filmmaking. She stated, “This Dolby-certified postproduction facility introduces transformative technology that empowers filmmakers to craft their stories with unparalleled precision and impact. It is a significant step toward redefining how films are made and experienced in India.”  

The launch event also featured exclusive screenings of scenes from RRR in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, showcasing the extraordinary capabilities of the new facility.
