Music Is the Soul of the Story: Palnati Surya Pratap on Prime Video’s Jagamae Sangeetham
Director Palnati Surya Pratap is making his series debut with Prime Video’s upcoming musical drama Jagamae Sangeetham, a story set against the rich world of Carnatic music. Ahead of its premiere, the filmmaker shares his thoughts on bringing together music, family emotions and Telugu culture.
Speaking about the series, Palnati Surya Pratap said, “At its core, Jagamae Sangeetham is a story about family and the emotions that connect them. Music plays an important role in expressing their relationships, dreams and conflicts. I have always been passionate about Carnatic music and have also studied it, so I wanted that element to feel natural and authentic.”
He further added, “Since this is my first series and a long-format story, I had the opportunity to explore the characters and their journeys in much more detail. My aim was to keep the music true to its roots while making sure every musical moment added to the story. I wanted the family emotions, cultural details and musical world to come together naturally and connect with Telugu audiences.”
Jagamae Sangeetham is created and directed by Palnati Surya Pratap and produced by Sushmita Konidela.
