Daayra Trailer Promises a Gripping Thriller

Kareena Kapoor Khan & Prithviraj Sukumaran Face Off in Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Daayra’ – Trailer Out Now

The crime thriller hits cinemas on September 18, 2026

The much-awaited trailer of ‘Daayra’, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is out now. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, the film is set to release in theatres worldwide on September 18, 2026.

Produced by Junglee Pictures and Dr. Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios), Daayra is a crime thriller inspired by true events. The film revolves around a serious crime that creates nationwide outrage and sets two investigations into motion.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran play senior police officers who approach the case from very different perspectives. As the investigation progresses, their views on duty, truth and justice put them on opposite sides of the case.

The trailer promises a tense and realistic narrative filled with twists, revelations and emotional conflict. Rather than presenting a clear divide between right and wrong, the film explores the grey areas of justice and how public opinion can quickly shape the way a case is perceived.

The film also features Jitendra Joshi, Kshitee Jog, Kanwaljeet Singh, Sandeep Kulkarni and Trupti Khamkar in key roles.

Speaking about the film, Kareena Kapoor Khan said that working with Meghna Gulzar gave her the opportunity to explore a character unlike anything she had played before. She also praised Prithviraj Sukumaran, calling him an intelligent and instinctive actor and said their collaboration made the experience special.

Prithviraj Sukumaran said he was drawn to his character, DCP Raman Kumar, because of the complexity behind his calm personality and the questions he faces during the investigation. He added that the film allows audiences to form their own opinions about the events.

Director Meghna Gulzar described Daayra as a film that explores the grey space between right and wrong. She said the story focuses on the choices made by its characters and leaves the audience to interpret what unfolds.

Amrita Pandey, CEO of Junglee Pictures, said the film continues the studio’s focus on stories inspired by real events and relevant issues. She highlighted the film’s strong characters, moral conflicts and the combination of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Dr. Jayantilal Gada, CMD of Pen Studios, said Daayra is a film that aims not just to entertain but also to make audiences think and start conversations about truth and justice.

Daayra marks another collaboration between Meghna Gulzar and Junglee Pictures after ‘Talvar’ and ‘Raazi’. The film is distributed by Pen Marudhar and will arrive in cinemas on September 18, 2026.
