Romanchakam Promises Pure Fun: Sumanth Prabhas

Romanchakam Is a Fun-Filled Love Story That Keeps You Engaged Throughout: Sumanth Prabhas

Presented by blockbuster filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced under the Bhadrakali Pictures banner, Romanchakam stars Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar in the lead roles. Produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga and directed by debutant Venu Gopal Reddy, the film combines romance, comedy and suspense to present a youthful entertainer. The movie is set to hit theatres worldwide on the 3rd of this month.

Ahead of its theatrical release, Sumanth Prabhas interacted with the media and opened up about his journey, his experience working on Romanchakam, the film's team and what audiences can expect.

Meeting Prabhas Garu Was a Special Moment

Meeting Prabhas garu for our film was a very special experience for me. It brought back so many memories and reminded me of how far I have come. When we went to meet him, we had certain expectations, but he welcomed us with so much warmth and affection. I could genuinely feel the love he has for people who admire him.

I don't come from a film family, and nobody at home had much knowledge about the industry. So, there wasn't much guidance or support from that side. The only advice I consistently received was to treat everyone well and maintain a positive attitude.

Each Film Has Given Me a Different Experience

My first film, Mem Famous, had a strong Telangana backdrop and received a good response from audiences here. Later, I worked on Godarigattupaina, which was rooted in the Andhra region and was appreciated by audiences there. Both films gave me an opportunity to explore different shades as an actor.

With Romanchakam, we have brought the story to Hyderabad. The film has a very contemporary setting that youngsters can easily relate to.

My Character Is Innocent and Full of Life

I play a young engineering graduate who dreams of starting his own business. He is innocent, lovable and has a very cute personality. Interestingly, in real life, my father wanted me to become an SI. While I was still pursuing my degree, I got the opportunity to enter films through Mem Famous, and that changed the course of my life.

Six Months of Workshops Made a Big Difference

I had already acted as a hero in two films, but director Venu Gopal Reddy garu wanted me to completely understand this character before we went on floors. We underwent workshops for nearly six months.

I had my own understanding of how the character should look and behave, but those workshops helped me refine everything—from the way I delivered dialogues to my body language and expressions. Looking back at my performance from the beginning to the end of that process, I can clearly see a huge transformation.

There were even scenes that we rehearsed continuously for two or three months. That kind of preparation really helped me get into the character.

The Story Immediately Connected With Me

I first met Sandeep anna at an awards function. He casually told me, “There is a cute story. Listen to it.” Since the story was coming from him, I already felt it would be something interesting.

Later, when Venu anna narrated the complete script, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was almost two and a half hours, but I never felt bored. That itself gave me confidence about the film.

People may have a certain perception about Sandeep anna and Pranay anna when they see them from the outside. But once you spend time with them, you realise how warm, simple and sweet they actually are. Anyone who has travelled with them will understand what I mean.

Vijay Deverakonda Anna Has Always Inspired Me

I was extremely happy when Vijay Deverakonda anna attended our pre-release event. Hearing him speak so positively about me was very encouraging. I have always looked up to him and drawn inspiration from his journey.

After watching the first copy of Romanchakam, Sandeep anna appreciated my performance and told me that I had done a very good job. Hearing that from him was a memorable moment for me.

“Romanchakam” Has Already Become a Catchphrase

Initially, I wondered how audiences would react to a title like Romanchakam because it is quite unique. But now the word itself is becoming popular and people are casually using it in conversations.

I strongly feel that after the movie releases, it will become even more familiar to audiences and could turn into a fun catchphrase.

Ananthika Is a Very Talented Performer

Ananthika is extremely talented. She has knowledge of several art forms and picks up new things very quickly. Working with her was a wonderful experience.

I believe Romanchakam will give her another opportunity to connect strongly with audiences and earn good recognition.

The Film Gives You a “Romanchakam” Experience

The biggest strength of the movie is its freshness. From the beginning to the end, there is a consistent fun element. Every scene has something that will entertain the audience.

I personally had a lot of fun watching the final film. It is the kind of movie that can be enjoyed by youngsters, families and even audiences across different age groups. You can watch it with your friends or family and have a good time.

Vasuki Vaibhav has given fantastic music for the film. Radharaman is particularly close to my heart and is my favourite song from the album. Prabhas garu also launched another beautiful love song from the movie, which made the occasion even more special.

I Want to Explore Every Genre

As a hero, I want to experiment with different kinds of stories and genres. At the moment, I am receiving more love-story scripts. Once I establish myself further as a hero, I hope to get opportunities in action and commercial entertainers as well.

My next project will be with Saailu Kampati, the director of Raju Weds Rambai. The film will be produced under the Asian banner, and we are planning to begin the shoot this month.

For now, my focus is completely on Romanchakam. I am confident that audiences will enjoy the film, have a lot of fun and experience the title in every sense when they watch it in theatres.
