Suriya’s latest release, ‘Vishwanath & Sons’, directed by Venky Atluri, is enjoying a strong response from audiences across the country. Released worldwide on August 14, the family entertainer has been appreciated for its emotional depth, humour, writing and performances, while also putting up impressive numbers at the box office.
Starring Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, the film features Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in key roles. Presented by Srikara Studios and produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, the film has music by G. V. Prakash Kumar.
To celebrate the film’s successful opening, the makers organised a success press meet at ITC Kohenur in Hyderabad. Trivikram Srinivas attended the event as the chief guest, along with Suriya, Raveena Tandon, Venky Atluri and other members of the team.
Trivikram Srinivas Praises Suriya and the Entire Team
Trivikram Srinivas congratulated the team and said he had been closely connected with the film from the time he first heard the story.
He revealed that he has a strong desire to work with Suriya and joked that he is yet to narrate a story that the actor has approved. Trivikram also shared an interesting personal anecdote, saying that his wife is a huge fan of Suriya and even visited the film’s sets to meet him.
Praising Suriya’s popularity, Trivikram said there are very few heroes who enjoy such immense admiration among women. He also compared Suriya with Mahesh Babu, joking that they are among the rare stars whose age seems to move backwards.
Trivikram recalled Suriya’s memorable performance as Sanjay Ramaswamy in Ghajini, noting how strongly the character connected with both Tamil and Telugu audiences. He also appreciated Venky Atluri for successfully bringing back a similar intensity in Suriya’s appearance and characterisation in the new film.
He described Suriya, Radhika Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon and Mamitha Baiju as the four major pillars of the movie. Trivikram particularly praised Raveena for taking up a role that was very different from her real-life persona and appreciated Mamitha for bringing energy and freshness to her character.
Speaking about Suriya’s performance, Trivikram pointed out that the character demanded restraint and could not be played with excessive expression. According to him, Suriya’s controlled performance was one of the film’s biggest strengths.
Trivikram also expressed happiness over Sithara Entertainments being associated with a Suriya film and said he would be even happier to see his own name appear as the director of a Suriya film someday.
He further observed that Suriya has taken up two completely different films, Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons, within a short span, calling it the beginning of an exciting new phase in the actor’s journey.
Highlighting Suriya’s humility, Trivikram said he has immense respect for the actor and his family and added that Telugu audiences have always considered Suriya and Karthi as their own stars.
He concluded by saying that the boundaries between Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema are disappearing and that Indian cinema is now coming together as one industry.
“The real heroes of this film are the audiences. On behalf of the entire team, I thank everyone who is showering love on ‘Vishwanath & Sons’,” Trivikram said.
Suriya Thanks Audiences for Their Support
Suriya expressed his happiness over Trivikram Srinivas attending the success celebration and said his presence made the occasion even more special.
The actor credited the support and encouragement from Trivikram for helping the project take shape and thanked Sithara Entertainments for being an important part of his journey.
Suriya highlighted the diverse backgrounds of the team, pointing out that Venky Atluri and Naga Vamsi come from the Telugu states, while he represents Tamil Nadu, Mamitha Baiju comes from Kerala and Raveena Tandon from Maharashtra.
Despite their different languages and regions, he said everyone came together with one goal to make a good film and audiences across the country have responded positively.
Suriya also said the success of the film proves that family entertainers continue to have a strong place in Indian cinema.
“The love and respect audiences are showing towards this film are truly special,” he said.
The actor thanked Venky Atluri for his writing and direction and said that the success of a film should not be judged only by its box-office figures, but also by the experience it creates for audiences.
Suriya concluded by expressing his special gratitude to Telugu audiences for embracing the film.
Raveena Tandon Appreciates the Team
Raveena Tandon thanked audiences for making the film’s success possible and congratulated the entire team.
Calling Venky Atluri a talented and warm-hearted filmmaker, she praised his ability to bring out the best in his actors.
Raveena described the shooting experience as enjoyable and said the atmosphere on the sets often felt like a picnic. She also spoke about Suriya’s immense popularity, revealing that some of her friends would visit the sets simply to meet the actor.
She congratulated producer Naga Vamsi for standing firmly behind the project and supporting the entire team throughout the film.
Venky Atluri Credits Suriya and Audiences
Director Venky Atluri said the success of Vishwanath & Sons was especially meaningful because the film was made at a time when action, horror, dark humour and devotional subjects were dominating the industry.
He revealed that choosing to make a family entertainer came with its own challenges, but producer Naga Vamsi never discouraged him from pursuing the idea.
Venky also acknowledged Trivikram Srinivas’ encouragement and support, saying that his involvement gave the project additional confidence and helped things fall into place.
The director shared his excitement over the film’s second-day collections, revealing that distributors informed him that the numbers had nearly doubled compared to the opening day.
Venky modestly deflected praise for the writing and gave major credit to Suriya for carrying the film on his shoulders.
“Everyone is appreciating the writing, but Suriya sir carried this film on his shoulders. The credit for these phenomenal collections goes to him,” Venky said.
He ended his speech by thanking every member of the cast, crew, distributors and, most importantly, the audiences who made the film’s success possible.
The film’s distributors were also present at the success meet and shared their happiness over its strong box-office performance. Actors Sunil Reddy, Viva Harsha, fight master Venkat and other members of the team attended the celebration.
