Deewana Is a Love Story Filled With Emotion and Heart – Director Sreekanth Sangishetty
Director Sreekanth Sangishetty says Deewana is not just a love story, but an emotional journey that audiences of all age groups can relate to. Ahead of the film’s June 19 release, the debut filmmaker shared how years of passion, struggle, and persistence finally led him to bring his dream project to the big screen.
Sreekanth began his career as an assistant director on Minugurulu, but later spent more than a decade working in the corporate sector. Despite having a stable job, cinema never left his mind.
Even while working in an office, I was constantly thinking about stories and films. Cinema was always my dream," he said.
The idea for Deewana came from a simple thought. One day, while watching a television anchor, he wondered what would happen if a stranger suddenly entered her life. That curiosity slowly evolved into a story packed with romance, emotion, and entertainment.
He revealed that the script went through several versions over the years. Whenever an idea struck, he would immediately write it down, sometimes even on scraps of paper.
I kept improving the story with every narration and every piece of feedback. It took years for the script to become what it is today," he explained.
According to Sreekanth, the film revolves around one-sided love and the emotions that come with it. While the first half is fun, energetic, and romantic, the second half takes a deeper emotional turn.
The director also recalled how difficult it was to find an opportunity in the industry. After years of waiting, he finally got a chance to narrate Deewana to Allu Aravind, who appreciated the story and gave it the support it needed.
Speaking about lead actor Harshith Reddy, Sreekanth said the young actor connected strongly with the character and delivered a sincere performance.
"Deewana is a film for everyone. Whether you enjoy love stories, family emotions, friendship, or feel-good entertainment, there is something in this film for you," he said.
The filmmaker added that audience reactions matter more to him than anything else.
"People can like the film or criticize it, but I want their reactions to be genuine. Honest feedback is what every filmmaker values," he shared.
With Deewana, Sreekanth hopes to make a memorable debut and connect with audiences through a story that is rooted in emotions, relationships, and love.
