Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya's romantic drama Chennai Love Story has turned into one of the biggest hits of the year, crossing the ₹50 crore mark at the box office. Along with its commercial success, the film has received an overwhelming response from audiences and appreciation from critics and members of the film industry.
Sharing his excitement about the film's success, debut director Ravi Namburi said the biggest reward has been the love and emotional connection the audience has shown towards the film.
The collections are definitely special, but what makes me happiest is the appreciation from the audience. Seeing people connect emotionally with the story is the real success for me. I'm also delighted that my first film has entered the ₹50 crore club.
Ravi revealed that the story was narrated to him by Sai Rajesh, and he immediately agreed to direct it because of its emotional depth. The screenplay was developed together, while Ravi handled the dialogues.
He also shared that his previous experience working on dialogues for Prathi Roju Pandage and Pakka Commercial helped him write impactful conversations for this film, which are now receiving a positive response.
Speaking about the casting, Ravi said he strongly felt Sri Gouri Priya was the right choice for the female lead. After discussing it with Sai Rajesh, they finalized her, and he believes she delivered an impressive performance that strengthened the emotional core of the film.
The director also praised Kiran Abbavaram, saying he completely trusted the vision of the film throughout the shoot.
Kiran gave me complete freedom as a first-time director. He never rushed the schedule or put any pressure on me. His support gave me a lot of confidence, and I feel this is one of his finest performances.
Ravi credited veteran composer Mani Sharma for adding tremendous emotional depth through his background score. He also appreciated lyricist Anantha Sriram and the entire technical team for working together with a common vision.
He recalled that filming the accident sequence in Puducherry and the climax involving the dog were among the toughest parts of the production. Despite the challenges, the producers stood by the team and never compromised on quality.
Talking about the audience's response, Ravi said some viewers initially had mixed opinions about the second half, but once they understood the twist, they appreciated it even more. According to him, the second half is now receiving excellent feedback.
The debut director also revealed that several film personalities, including Santosh Sobhan and director Sailesh Kolanu, personally congratulated him after watching the film, which has encouraged him to work even harder.
Expressing gratitude to producer SKN, Ravi said he will continue his journey with the same banner.
SKN garu believed in me and gave me my first opportunity. I'll always be thankful for that. My next film will also be produced by him. It is my own original story and will be a family and youth entertainer filled with strong emotions.
