“Purushaha” Has Entertainment, Emotion and Family Appeal: Director Veeru Vulavala

Presented by Bathula Saraswathi under the Kalyan Productions banner, Purushaha is produced by Bathula Koteswara Rao. The film marks the debut of Pavan Kalyan Bathula as hero and is directed by Veeru Vulavala. The movie features Pavan Kalyan, Sapthagiri, Kasireddy Raj Kumar, Rayancha Kokkura, Vishika, and Hasini Sudheer in important roles and is gearing up for release on May 22. The posters, songs, teaser, and glimpses have already created good buzz among the audience. Speaking to the media, director Veeru Vulavala shared interesting details about the film and his journey.

Talking about his background, Veeru said he always had a passion for art and cinema from childhood. He used to paint hero posters on cloth, which were displayed outside theatres. Later, he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts and entered the film industry with the dream of becoming a filmmaker. He designed the title logo for Kotha Bangaru Lokam and went on to create title designs for more than 350 films, including projects of Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan.

Veeru revealed that while he was narrating stories to producers, he worked in the direction department for the hit film Masooda. During that period, he developed Purushaha and narrated it to producer Koteswara Rao. Though the story mainly revolves around the love story of Govind and Kamala, the producer liked the strong emotional and family-oriented backdrop. He believed the film would connect well with family audiences and immediately agreed to produce it.

Speaking about the producer’s support, Veeru said Koteswara Rao never compromised during production and encouraged the team throughout the journey. He also mentioned that Saraswathi garu personally took care of the team on sets every day. After watching the final version, the producer became emotional and said making this film was his dream for the last 26 years.

Explaining the characters, Veeru said Pavan Kalyan plays a sincere man who goes to any extent for love. Sapthagiri and Kasireddy Raj Kumar provide strong entertainment, while VTV Ganesh, Vennela Kishore, and Anantha Sriram appear in memorable roles. He especially highlighted a comedy episode involving Vennela Kishore near a window, which he believes will make audiences laugh a lot in theatres.

Veeru shared that the basic idea for Purushaha came to him while working with director Gautham Tinnanuri on Malli Raava and Jersey. The core thought behind the film was that only a few men are truly noble in life. Wanting to present a male-oriented emotional story in an entertaining way, he kept improving the script after every rejection until it finally shaped into the current film.

Since Pavan Kalyan is a newcomer, the team conducted workshops for nearly two months before beginning the shoot. The film was shot for 51 days, mostly in natural locations around Kakinada.

Talking about the technical crew, Veeru credited cinematographer Satheesh for introducing him to the producer. He also praised music director Shravan for delivering beautiful songs and a strong background score. The film features six songs, each with a different feel.

Finally, Veeru said Purushaha is not just a regular entertainer. Along with comedy and emotions, the film also includes elements of thriller, horror, and action. He expressed confidence that the movie will connect with all sections of the audience and can be enjoyed together with family members.
