Universal Music India has announced an exclusive partnership with singer-composer Anirudh Ravichander’s newly launched label, Albuquerque Records. This collaboration will focus on releasing non-film music, especially in pop and hip-hop genres.
As part of the deal, Universal Music India will support and distribute music created by Anirudh as well as upcoming artists signed under his label. The first release under Albuquerque Records is expected to drop in early April, featuring Anirudh himself.
The partnership aims to take Indian independent music to a global audience. Albuquerque Records is designed as an artist-driven platform to discover and promote fresh talent from across the region.
Anirudh, who started his career with the viral hit “Why This Kolaveri Di,” has built a massive presence in the music industry with billions of streams and numerous hit tracks. With this new venture, he plans to nurture the next generation of independent artists.
Universal Music India, known for its strong presence in non-film music, sees this collaboration as a major step in expanding its footprint in the South Indian market and strengthening its position in pop and hip-hop music.
Both Anirudh and Universal Music India believe this partnership will open new doors for Indian music on the global stage and create opportunities for emerging artists.
