Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer Trailer Showcases Myth, Magic and Massive Scale
Mollywood is gearing up for something big with Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer, a grand period fantasy directed by Rojin Thomas (Home fame). The film stars Jayasurya as Kadamattathu Kathanar, a legendary priest from Kerala known for stories filled with magic and folklore.
The newly released trailer gives a glimpse of the film’s impressive scale. It opens in the historic Kanthalloor Saala and gradually shifts into a darker world set in ancient Venad. As a supernatural threat rises, Kathanar steps in as the protector, setting up a story that blends myth with high-end visuals.
Anushka Shetty plays Kalliyankattu Neeli, a mysterious Yakshi, marking her Malayalam debut. Her character adds a haunting and intense layer to the narrative.
Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under Sree Gokulam Movies, the film features a strong supporting cast including Prabhu Deva, Sanoop Santhosh, Sandy, Devika Sanjay, Harish Uthaman, Vineeth, Nitish Bharadwaj, Srikanth Murali, and Kulprit Yadav.
The screenplay is co-written by Rojin Thomas and R. Ramanand. Cinematography is by Neil D’Cunha, with music composed by Rahul Subrahmanian. The film uses advanced VFX and virtual production to create a visually rich experience, with production design by Rajeevan adding authenticity.
Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer is planned for a grand monsoon release and will be released in 15 languages, aiming to reach a global audience.
