Hey Bhagavan blends strong emotions with wholesome entertainment: Producer B. Narendra Reddy
Following the success of films like Little Hearts, Raju Weds Rambai, and Eesha, the successful combination of Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati is now presenting a full-fledged entertainer titled Hey Bhagavan under the banners of Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works.
Starring Suhas, Shivani Nagaram, senior actor Naresh, and anchor Sravanthi in prominent roles, the film is directed by Gopi Achara and produced by B. Narendra Reddy under the Trishul Visionary Studios banner. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on February 20. On this occasion, producer B. Narendra Reddy interacted with the media and shared insights about the film and his journey.
Background and journey into films
Hailing from Proddatur in Kadapa district, Narendra Reddy is currently based in Bengaluru, where he is involved in the construction business. His passion for cinema dates back to childhood, which eventually drew him toward the film industry. He initially stepped into the Kannada film industry as a financier and later transitioned into production out of sheer love for films. Hey Bhagavan marks his debut as a producer in Telugu cinema.
Entry into the industry
Before becoming a producer, he financed several Kannada films. Over time, his deep interest in filmmaking encouraged him to actively take up production responsibilities.
How the project took shape
Narendra Reddy revealed that he heard the story through executive producer Ramana Reddy. Although he had listened to nearly ten scripts earlier, none convinced him. However, the moment he heard the narration of Hey Bhagavan, he found it highly engaging, entertaining, and emotionally appealing, which led to the project being finalized.
Reason for choosing the film & production experience
He said the story was the main driving factor behind making the film. The production progressed exactly as planned and stayed within budget. According to him, every rupee spent is reflected in the film’s visual quality and output. He particularly highlighted the father-son emotional track, stating that it will deeply connect with audiences.
Reaction after watching the film
Narendra Reddy shared that the excitement he felt while listening to the story remained intact even after watching the final cut. He believes audiences will experience the same engagement and thrill. He also noted that performances by Suhas, Naresh, and comedians Sudarshan and Vennela Kishore will be major highlights, with each character contributing to the entertainment.
Twists and screenplay
He confirmed that the film features strong twists in both the interval and climax portions. The screenplay, he said, is designed to exceed audience expectations, with fresh and engaging moments throughout.
Association with Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati
He mentioned that his association with Vamsi Nandipati goes back a long way, and Vamsi has been aware of the story from the beginning. Working alongside Bunny Vas and Vamsi has further boosted his confidence in the film’s success.
Role as a producer
Narendra Reddy explained that he does not interfere in the creative aspects once the story is approved. His focus remains on ensuring smooth execution, budget management, daily shoot monitoring, and overall production supervision from a producer’s perspective.
On risks in filmmaking
He believes that if a story can hold the audience’s attention for two hours, success will follow naturally. As someone who has loved cinema since childhood, he does not view film production as a major risk.
Learnings from the film
Having been involved in backend production work since 2017, he gained valuable experience in planning, discipline, and execution. These learnings helped him complete this project with clarity and confidence.
Future plans
Speaking about his next venture, he revealed that it will revolve around friendship. The film will feature Satyadev as the lead, with Lakshminarayana directing and Faria Abdullah playing the female lead. He described it as a full-fledged commercial entertainer in a genre that Satyadev has not explored before.
