Dheeraj Mogilineni about Couple Friendly

“Couple Friendly” Is Not Just for Youth It’s a Film Families Will Embrace Too: Dheeraj Mogilineni

With Santosh Soban and Manasa Varanasi in the lead, Couple Friendly is gearing up for a Valentine’s Day release on February 14 in both Telugu and Tamil. Backed by the reputed banner UV Creations and produced under UV Concepts, the film is directed by Ashwin Chandrasekhar. Distributor and producer Dheeraj Mogilineni, who is releasing the film across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, recently shared his thoughts on the project.

A Love Story with Emotional Depth

Dheeraj revealed that he watched the film nearly two weeks before acquiring it and was instantly convinced. After discussing it with the producers, he stepped forward to distribute it. Though the title might suggest a youthful entertainer, he insists the film carries strong emotional undercurrents that resonate with family audiences as well.

Set in Chennai, the story traces the lives of Shiva and Mitra two young individuals who move to the city chasing their dreams. Shiva arrives from Nellore aspiring to establish himself as an interior designer, while Mitra comes from Chittoor in search of employment. Their meeting becomes the turning point in both their lives, forming the heart of the narrative.

Beyond the Live-In Angle

While the film touches upon a live-in relationship concept, Dheeraj clarified that it occupies only a brief portion of the runtime. The central focus lies in how the protagonists support one another through life’s challenges. A subtle layer of suspense runs through the story, as Mitra repeatedly hints at something important she wants to reveal to Shiva.

He also mentioned that the censor board had reservations about the film’s title and suggested a change. However, the team stood firm. Dheeraj emphasized the need for a more streamlined process where titles receive prior clearance during registration itself, pointing out that even the film Chaiwala faced similar concerns recently.

Santosh Soban’s Mature Performance

According to Dheeraj, Santosh Soban delivers one of his most composed and heartfelt performances as Shiva. He believes this film could mark an important milestone in the young actor’s career. When emerging actors achieve commercial success, he said, it strengthens the entire industry by opening new opportunities.

Challenging Shoot in Chennai

The film was shot extensively in Chennai, where securing permissions can be demanding even for Tamil productions. To overcome hurdles, the team adopted a guerrilla-style shooting approach, similar to what was done recently for Chennai Love Story.

A Touching Narrative for All

Dheeraj described the film as emotionally engaging without being overly melodramatic. Director Ashwin Chandrasekhar has crafted a tightly structured screenplay, ensuring every scene flows seamlessly into the next. While Dheeraj felt the film could have been slightly more intense had he been involved earlier, he believes it’s not appropriate for distributors to suggest changes after completion. The director and producers trusted their vision from the beginning and that conviction reflects on screen.

Competition on Valentine’s Day

Releasing alongside Funky and re-releases like Manasantha Nuvve and Love Story, Couple Friendly faces notable competition. However, Dheeraj remains confident that each film will attract its own audience segment. He noted that re-releases typically thrive when backed by major star power.

What’s Next?

Dheeraj is currently overseeing the production of Chennai Love Story and a new project featuring Sangeeth Soban. Additionally, a children’s film is in the pipeline for a summer release. Discussions are also underway with prominent star heroes, and he hinted at announcing a major project under his banner later this year.

With heartfelt emotions, relatable characters, and a Valentine’s Day release window, Couple Friendly aims to strike a chord with both young viewers and family audiences alike.
