Actor Dr. Rajasekhar Injured on Film Set; Undergoes Major Leg Surgery
Actor Dr. Rajasekhar, who recently made a comeback to cinema, suffered a serious leg injury while shooting for his upcoming film. The accident took place on November 25 in Medchal during an action sequence, resulting in multiple fractures in his right ankle.
Doctors diagnosed him with a right ankle bimalleolar dislocation with a compound fracture, a condition caused by severe impact. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where specialists recommended urgent surgery.
Dr. Rajasekhar underwent a three-hour-long surgery, which included:
Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with K-wires for the lateral malleolus
Fixation with cannulated screws and a semi-tubular plate for the medial malleolus
Trans-fixation of the tibia using a wire through the calcaneum and talus
The surgery was successful, and he is currently recovering under medical supervision.
Doctors have advised three to four weeks of complete rest, with strict immobility of the injured leg. As a result, Dr. Rajasekhar will be away from shoots for some time and may resume work only by January 2026, based on his healing.
This incident reminds many of a similar injury he suffered on November 15, 1989, during the shoot of Magadu, reflecting his long-standing commitment to performing intense action scenes.
Dr. Rajasekhar is currently working on Biker and two other untitled films, whose schedules may be reworked depending on his recovery.
Fans and colleagues from the film industry are wishing him a speedy and complete recovery.
