Raju Weds Rambai feels like a story unfolding right in front of you, says Producer Sai Krishna
Akhil Raj and Tejaswini are playing the lead roles in Raju Weds Rambai, produced by ETV Win Originals Production. The film is presented by Dr. Nageshwar Rao Pujari and produced under Dolamukhi Subaltern Films and Monsoons Tales by Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi. Saailu Kampati is the director. The movie hits theatres on November 21, released by Vamsi Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works. Producer Sai Krishna shared key insights about the film in a recent interaction.
Sai Krishna explained that many people believe OTT platforms mainly offer adult content, but ETV Win aims to change that perception. They are focusing on clean, family-friendly entertainment that everyone can enjoy. Projects like 90’s – A Middle Class Biopic, Air, Anaganaga, and Little Hearts reflect this vision. He said they want ETV Win to be a modern version of the kind of family cinema once made by Ushakiran Movies. Since the middle class forms the majority in India, they choose stories that feel real and relatable.
The idea for Raju Weds Rambai comes from a real incident that happened in a village between Warangal and Khammam. When director Saailu narrated the story, they asked for a demo shoot. After watching the sample scenes, the team felt confident in his vision. The project began about 18 months ago, but the shoot faced delays due to weather, and the team even had to convince villagers to allow filming.
The makers did not alter much of the original story. The real-life incident had a specific climax. The team also tried an alternate ending, but after reviewing both, they chose the original because it felt more suitable. Although the story is based on a tragic event, the director handled it sensitively so it wouldn’t feel too heavy. Some dialect-specific dialogues were changed to make the film easier to understand for everyone.
Sai Krishna said the film turned out well because of director Saailu’s sincerity and simplicity. The movie gives the feeling of being inside a village, watching events as they happen. He appreciated the director’s creative honesty and gave him complete freedom. The budget crossed expectations, mainly because the entire shoot happened in the village with mostly new actors.
Akhil has done an excellent job as Raju, and Sai Krishna believes he will become a notable young hero. Tejaswini has portrayed Rambai with full dedication. Chaitanya Jonnalagadda delivered a strong performance as Rambai’s father. Sai Krishna also spoke highly of their collaboration with Vamsi Nandipati and Bunny Vas, hoping this film repeats the success they had with Little Hearts. Director Venu Udugula also supported the film wholeheartedly.
Sai Krishna added that ETV Win has exciting upcoming releases. The second season of Kanaka Mahalakshmi will premiere in December, and a new film starring Thiruveer is also on the way. Their plan is to release at least one new movie every month and continue offering enjoyable content to their audience.
