With Seetha Payanam set to hit theatres on February 14, Action King Arjun Sarja speaks candidly about the film’s journey, launching his daughter Aishwarya Arjun, his bond with Telugu audiences, and Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s heartfelt support. Directed and produced by Arjun under the Shri Ram Films International banner, the film stars Niranjan and Aishwarya Arjun in the lead roles, with Action Prince Dhruva Sarja in a crucial part.
You’re releasing Seetha Payanam in four languages. What led to that decision?
Earlier, I used to make bilingual or trilingual films. But Seetha Payanam carries a universal emotion. Language doesn’t limit this storyit connects with people everywhere. Since it’s a feel-good subject with relatable emotions, I felt it deserved a wider, multi-language release.
Did working with your daughter as a producer impact the budget in any way?
Actually, it made things more comfortable. When you work with family, you have complete clarity and control over the budget. You know exactly where to invest and where to cut back. That transparency helps a lot.
Why did you choose Telugu cinema to introduce Aishwarya Arjun?
The Telugu film industry has given me immense love throughout my career. I owe a lot to Telugu audiences. So, I felt it was right to introduce my daughter here first, out of gratitude and respect.
Was the role initially written for another hero? Did the casting change the script?
Yes, the story was ready and we initially thought of Vishwak Sen. Sometimes, circumstances don’t align. But we didn’t alter even a single scene. Niranjan stepped into the role seamlessly. There are no misunderstandingseverything is settled. Life goes full circle. If the right moment comes, we might work together in the future.
Usually, star sons are launched first. You chose to launch your daughter. Why?
Why only sons? Daughters are heirs too. We shouldn’t differentiate. If a child has passion and interest, parents should support them. My daughter loves acting, and that’s why I brought her into cinema.
What kind of film is Seetha Payanam?
It’s a mature, layered story. It’s not just about romancethere are deep emotions, relationships, and values. Loving your family and your country is also a form of patriotism, and that thought runs through the film.
How strong is the action element in the film?
There are action sequences that mass audiences will enjoy, but they’re organic to the story. Nothing is forced. Anup Rubens’ music and background score elevate the emotional impact beautifully.
As an actor, what kind of roles do you still want to explore?
I’ve always believed in trying every genre. Abhimanyudu gave me great appreciation. Villain roles, comedyeverything excites me. I want to challenge myself constantly. My next film will be a full-fledged action entertainer.
What was the censor board’s response to the film?
They were deeply moved. After watching the film, they spoke very emotionally and appreciated the effort. The film received a clean ‘U’ certificate without a single cut.
How did the idea of Seetha Payanam come to you?
The seed of this story came to me 13 years ago. It stayed with me all these years. I even shared the core idea with my daughter back then. Over time, I developed it fully and felt this was the perfect story to introduce her.
Tell us about the lead characters.
These roles are not about glamour or songs alone. Each character has depth and purpose, with great scope for performance. Audiences will definitely talk about Niranjan and Aishwarya after watching the film. The father–daughter emotion is portrayed in a way that hasn’t been seen before.
Which do you enjoy more nowacting or directing?
At this stage, directing excites me more. I have five or six scripts ready. My next project will be a pure mass action filmno love track, no songs. Just raw action, with a role that suits my age.
Is Hanuman Junction 2 on the cards?
I’d love to do it. Just yesterday, I spoke to Jagapathi Babu, and he feels the same. But we need a solid script. If the right story comes, I’ll produce and direct it myself.
Which of your older films would you like to re-release?
Gentleman. The film is still very relevant and resonates even today. It fits the current social climate perfectly.
Power Star Pawan Kalyan attended the launch event. How was that experience?
I’ve met Pawan Kalyan only a few times. When I invited him for the pooja, he immediately agreed. He said he’d stay for five minutes but ended up spending nearly three hours with me. He’s extremely honest and genuine. At the event, he told me, “We are here for you.” That meant a lot to me and my family.
Any plans to enter politics?
No, politics doesn’t suit me. I don’t have deep knowledge of it. I’m happy acting and directing. I do want to do good for people, but politics is a completely different journey (laughs).

Seetha Payanam is made for everyonefrom Gen Z to elders. It’s a wholesome family film that you can watch together in theatres and walk out with a smile and emotion in your heart.
