Our Life, Our Responsibility: Sai Durgha Tej Advocates Road Safety

Our Life is Our Responsibility – Sai Durgha Tej at Traffic Summit 2025

The Hyderabad Police hosted Traffic Summit 2025 to spread awareness on road safety and accident prevention. Actor Sai Durgha Tej, who attended as chief guest, donated ₹5 lakh to support the police department’s safety initiatives.

Speaking at the event, the actor gave an emotional and inspiring address.

There’s a personal reason why I came here. In September 2021, I met with a serious accident and was in a coma for two weeks. The only reason I’m alive today is because I wore a helmet. I’m not saying this for sympathy – I want everyone to know the truth. Please, never ride without a helmet.

He stressed that family members must take responsibility to ensure their loved ones wear helmets, just as car drivers must wear seat belts.

Sharing his painful recovery journey, Sai Durgha Tej revealed:

He lost his voice after the accident and struggled to even hold a pen.

His balance and confidence were shattered.

It took months of effort to relearn basic things, and he still avoids riding on busy roads.

With heartfelt emotion, he recalled how his mother encouraged him to overcome fear:

She told me, ‘Don’t live in fear. Ride slowly in front of the house, gain confidence, and then go on the road.’ That gave me courage.

Sai Durgha Tej also highlighted the importance of setting an example:

He urges fellow actors to wear helmets during stunt shoots, citing Kollywood star Ajith as a role model.

He shared how, before entering films, he went from office to office with photos, often carrying them back if rejected.

He admitted he never had the chance to ride with his famous uncles Chiranjeevi or Pawan Kalyan, though Pawan Kalyan always insists on safety while riding.

Paying tribute to the police, he said:

At home, our family gives us safety. Outside, it’s the police who protect us. They are the unsung heroes and deserve our salute. My grandfather was also a police officer, so I know their value.

He further urged strict measures for violators:

Instead of just fines or counseling, why not introduce community service punishments for those who ride without helmets or drink and drive? It will create more responsibility.

Finally, he left the audience with a powerful reminder:

Our life is our responsibility. Nobody else will take it. If we make mistakes on the road, we alone – and our loved ones – will suffer. Let us all ride safe, drive safe, and live with a smile.
