Sumaya Reddy’s ‘Dear Uma’ Set for April 18 Release – A Passion Project with a Powerful Message
The trailer for Dear Uma was officially launched on April 11 and offers a glimpse into a story about two dreamers: a young man aspiring to become a singer and a woman with the ambition to become a doctor. Their paths cross unexpectedly, leading to a journey filled with emotional highs, gripping moments, and a strong message about the flaws in today’s healthcare system. One striking dialogue from the trailer urges society to "rescue healthcare from corporate greed," hinting at the film’s socially relevant theme.
Speaking at the trailer launch, Sumaya shared her deep connection with the story:
“I always wanted to create meaningful content. As I was writing this script, I found myself completely involved in the world of these characters. Director Rajesh garu has known me for a long time and paused all his other work to focus on this project. I wasn’t sure who would support me, but it was my mother who believed in me first. I’ve always been a fan of Radhan garu’s musicespecially in Andala Rakshasiand was thrilled when he agreed to work with us. Prithvi garu brought life to the story with his performance. This film is very special to all of us. I request everyone to watch it in theatres on April 18 and support us.”
Prithvi Amber, who plays the male lead, shared his thoughts:
“After Dia, I received a lot of love from Telugu audiences. When I was approached for Dear Uma, I instantly connected with the story. Sumaya garu has balanced multiple roles beautifully. This is my first straight Telugu film, and I’m proud of it. Radhan garu’s music has added soul to the film.”
