Ranabaali Gave Meaning to My Career: Vijay Deverakonda

"Ranabaali Gave Real Meaning to My Journey as an Actor" Vijay Deverakonda Gets Emotional at the Anantapur Success Meet

Fresh off the strong box-office reception of Ranabaali, the team behind the period action drama gathered in Anantapur for their "Ranabheri" success celebration. Produced on a massive scale by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers, alongside T-Series, the Rahul Sankrityan directorial has struck an especially deep chord with audiences across Rayalaseema.

Addressing the packed crowd, Vijay Deverakonda reflected on his personal ties to the region, noting that his motivation went far beyond just playing a character:

"Telugu soil carries incredible depth, but Rayalaseema has always held a special place in my lifeI studied here. I used to watch movies at a local theatre in Kothacheruvu, and seeing Ranabaali run to packed houses in that exact same hall is a surreal feeling. Shooting across Anantapur, Kurnool, and Kadapa brought back so many student memories.

I didn’t approach this film just as an actor taking on a gig; I felt a genuine duty to Rayalaseema to tell this story and give back to a place that shaped me. When an elderly man held my hand and said, 'You put the story of our heroes on screen,' it hit me hard. No box-office cheque or award compares to that. The way people have embraced this film has given true meaning to my acting career."

Director Rahul Sankrityan, himself a native of Rayalaseema, echoed the emotional weight of bringing the project to life:

"I grew up watching movies here, so having my own film play to packed halls in these very towns is overwhelming. Adapting lesser-known history into a large-scale commercial film isn't easy, and despite early negativity from some corners, good cinema always finds its audience. Pouring my roots into this script was my way of honoring where I come from. Seeing Vijay pull off the Seema dialect with the ease of legends like Chiranjeevi garu and Balakrishna garu makes me immensely proud."

Producer Naveen Yerneni highlighted the movie’s box-office turnaround, stating that despite a mixed reception early on Day 1, word-of-mouth surged by evening, turning Ranabaali into the biggest hit of Vijay’s careersurpassing their previous collaborations Dear Comrade and Kushi. Co-producer Y. Ravi Shankar added that Vijay had specifically insisted on holding the success event in Anantapur to thank the local audience in person, while co-producer Anurag Parvathneni and actress Easwari Rao both expressed gratitude to moviegoers for cutting through online noise and backing the film.

Lead actress Rashmika Mandanna, who couldn't attend due to an ongoing shoot in Mumbai, shared a message thanking fans for the overwhelming response to her character, Jayamma, and celebrating the film's runaway reception.
