“I Feel Lucky to Have Made My Debut With Tatvam” – Dashvika K.
Telugu cinema audiences have always welcomed fresh and interesting stories. When a film has a strong story and keeps viewers hooked till the end, even a small-budget movie can make a big impact. Murder mysteries, in particular, have a special appeal because of their suspense and unexpected twists.
One such film is Tatvam, starring Dinesh Tej and debutante Dashvika K. in the lead roles. Directed by Arjun Kola, the film is jointly produced by Trayathi Ishani Creations and S.K. Productions. Vamsi Seemakurthi and Swetha Pashupulate are the producers. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on October 2.
Ahead of the release, Dashvika K. spoke to the media about her debut, her character and her experience working on the film.
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Dashvika K. and I am from Vizag. Tatvam is my first film. I was looking for a good opportunity to enter the industry, and after auditioning for Tatvam, I was selected. I had earlier appeared in a commercial with Vijay Deverakonda.
How do you feel about making your debut with Tatvam?
I feel very lucky. Getting a role with good scope for performance in my first film is something I am happy about. When I heard the story, I immediately found it interesting. My character has a lot of emotion, and the story takes place in a village setting.
Your character appears to have grey shades in the trailer. Is that true?
There are definitely some grey shades to my character, but she is someone the audience will connect with. I don't want to reveal too much because it could spoil the experience. I would like people to discover the character while watching the film.
Tell us more about your role.
She is a soft-hearted and kind person who supports the hero. She stands by him while he tries to find the killer. Overall, she is a positive character.
What can audiences expect from Tatvam?
The film has a murder mystery at its core, with plenty of suspense and interesting elements. We often see films with such concepts coming from Malayalam cinema, so I am happy that a similar kind of story is being attempted in Telugu.
The screenplay keeps moving and there is no point where the audience will feel bored. The village backdrop also gives the film a different feel. I am personally a shy person, so I could relate to certain aspects of my character.
When did you decide to become an actress?
I have wanted to act since childhood. In fact, when I was in third grade, I told my teacher that I wanted to become an actress. I have always been interested in cinema and modelling.
My parents wanted me to complete my education first, so I finished my studies before entering the film industry. They are now completely supportive of my career. I also underwent acting training with Mahathi Bikshu.
Were you nervous about entering the film industry?
Yes, I was quite nervous initially. I had heard many things about the industry and was a little scared. But once I entered, I realised that you have to understand the environment, work hard and grow with experience.
Thankfully, my journey so far has been smooth. My experience has also shown me that the industry is not as frightening as people outside sometimes imagine.
How was your experience working with Dinesh Tej?
Dinesh is very supportive and helped me a lot during the shoot. He especially guided me during the action sequences. His character in Tatvam is also very interesting.
How was it working with director Arjun Kola?
Arjun is a very calm and composed person. Interestingly, he works in the software field and took three months' leave from his job to make this film. I was surprised when I came to know that.
He has a lot of clarity about what he wants and handled the film very patiently.
What are the other highlights of Tatvam?
The story and narration are the biggest strengths. Chetan Bharadwaj's music and background score also add a lot to the film and will be among its major highlights.
Does the film live up to its title, Tatvam?
Tatvam is definitely a different title. Initially, we also wondered how audiences would respond to it. But the feedback we received so far has been very positive.
I believe that after watching the film on October 2, audiences will understand why the title was chosen and feel that the film is as different as its name.
What kind of roles would you like to do in the future?
I want to try different kinds of characters. I am particularly interested in doing love stories, but more than the genre, I want to choose roles that give me something challenging to perform.
What are your upcoming projects?
I have a Tamil film starting in November. I am also in talks for a few Telugu projects. I hope to announce more details soon.
