AP FDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan Meets Telugu Television Industry Representatives
The Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation (APFDC) has recently announced plans to revive the prestigious Nandi Awards for the Telugu film, television and theatre industries.
As part of the initiative, APFDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan, along with FDC members Burra Sai Madhav and Meer, TV & OTT South President Prasad Rao, TV Federation President Nani, Telugu Film Producers Council Secretary Thummala Prasanna Kumar, and representatives from the 24 crafts of the television industry, held a meeting at the Film Chamber building in Hyderabad.
During the meeting, Bharat Bhushan said that the Nandi Awards, which have not been presented for several years, will be revived soon. He said the awards for the years 2017 to 2024 will be presented under a format that will be announced shortly. From 2025 onwards, the Nandi Awards are expected to be conducted every year.
He also revealed that efforts are being made to organise the awards ceremony in Tirupati, in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, either towards the end of November or during the first week of December.
The APFDC Chairman also encouraged the television industry to conduct more shoots and programmes in Andhra Pradesh. He said the government wants to create an environment where producers and television teams can carry out their work across the state.
Representatives from the television industry welcomed the initiative and assured that they are willing to shoot in Andhra Pradesh. However, they requested the APFDC to provide complete government support and suitable facilities.
Their key requests included land for television studios, shooting locations in different districts, production subsidies, affordable shooting facilities and support for local artists and technicians. They also sought greater opportunities for artists from Andhra Pradesh and requested measures such as health insurance and possible pension benefits for senior artists and industry workers.
The representatives also requested that television and media professionals receive adequate recognition and opportunities along with the film industry.
Responding positively to their requests, Bharat Bhushan said the APFDC would hold further discussions with the concerned departments and examine the proposals. He said appropriate committees would be formed to study the issues and that decisions would be taken in consultation with the government.
He assured the industry representatives that the APFDC would work towards creating better opportunities and facilities for the film, television and theatre sectors in Andhra Pradesh.
