Ugly Story Team Thanks Audience for Blockbuster Response

“Ugly Story” Team Celebrates Success With Gratitude Meet After Strong Audience Response

Following the positive response received for Ugly Story, the film’s team interacted with the media at a special Thank You Meet held after the movie’s release. Starring Nandu and Avika Gor in the lead roles, the emotional drama is directed by Pranava Swaroop and produced under the Riya Jiya Productions banner by Subhashini and Konda Lakshman. The film also features Shivaji Raja, Ravi Teja Mahadasyam, and Pragya Nayan in pivotal roles.

At the event, actor Nandu expressed his happiness over the encouraging response from audiences and media alike. He shared that the film witnessed stronger collections and word-of-mouth by evening shows on release day itself. Thanking everyone for embracing the film wholeheartedly, he said the support felt deeply personal to him.

Speaking about the film, Nandu revealed that a few emotionally intense scenes were challenging to perform, but he approached them with complete sincerity as they were crucial to the story. He added that the appreciation coming his way for recent films has motivated him to choose stronger and more meaningful scripts going forward.

The actor stated that he had confidence audiences would connect with his performance in Ugly Story, and he is overwhelmed by the response it has received. He also spoke about the film’s emotional depth and said society has evolved, especially in terms of women standing up for themselves in difficult relationships, a perspective he strongly supports.

Nandu credited the film’s promotions as one of the reasons for its reach among audiences. He mentioned that while no one can predict which promotional strategy works, he always gives his maximum effort and plans to continue doing so for future projects as well.

Reflecting on his career journey, Nandu said the recognition coming through this film after years of struggle feels extremely special. He emotionally recalled an incident where a stranger prayed for his success despite not knowing him personally, calling it a moment he would never forget.

The actor also shared advice once given to him by director Sukumar, who told him that in the film industry one must constantly remind people of their presence. Nandu said those words stayed with him and changed his outlook.

Praising director Pranava Swaroop, Nandu said almost all the credit for his character’s impact goes to the filmmaker, who ensured every emotion was portrayed exactly as envisioned. He added that even after shooting ended, the role continued to stay with him emotionally.

Talking about his family’s response, Nandu revealed that his wife Geetha appreciated several scenes and songs in the movie, and even described the experience as emotionally intense like watching a horror film, which he considered a compliment.

He further expressed confidence that with continued audience support, Ugly Story has the potential to emerge as a major success. According to him, many viewers are appreciating the film for carrying the emotional realism often associated with Malayalam cinema. He also appreciated the child actor who portrayed his younger version, calling the performance exceptional.

Director Pranava Swaroop said the story was inspired by situations and emotional realities often seen in society today. He explained that while love may evolve with time, some people remain emotionally trapped in certain phases of life, and that emotional conflict became the core of the film.

The director also mentioned that he feels fortunate to have found an actor like Nandu for such a layered role and confirmed that his next project too will explore strong emotional themes. Speaking about Shivaji Raja’s character in the film, he noted that unlike typical well-wishers, the character approaches relationships and marriage from a completely different perspective.

Producer Bekkem Venugopal, who attended the event, said he initially felt the film was good while watching it, but after witnessing the public response post-release, he became confident that Ugly Story would earn lasting recognition. He added that this film marks a significant turning point in Nandu’s career and described it as the beginning of the actor’s second innings.

Venugopal also appreciated director Pranava Swaroop for achieving such impactful success with his debut film and requested the media to continue encouraging the movie so it can reach wider audiences.
