‘Project Hail Mary’ Off to a Flying Start ₹17 Cr Opening Weekend in India, $300M Worldwide in 10 Days
The Hollywood sci-fi film Project Hail Mary is turning into a major box office success both globally and in India. Within just 10 days of release, the film has already crossed an impressive $300 million worldwide.
In India, the movie has opened strong, earning around ₹17.28 crore during its extended first weekend. This is considered a solid start for a Hollywood science-fiction film in the country.
One of the biggest highlights has been the overwhelming response to premium formats like IMAX and 4DX. Shows in these formats are selling out quickly, leading theatres to add very early morning screenings even as early as 3:45 AM which are also running housefull.
The film, starring Ryan Gosling and released in India on March 26, saw steady growth over the weekend thanks to positive word of mouth. Many viewers are returning to watch it again, especially in premium formats.
Day-wise India Box Office:
Thursday: ₹2.8 Cr
Friday: ₹3.33 Cr
Saturday: ₹5.35 Cr
Sunday: ₹5.8 Cr
Total: ₹17.28 Cr
Compared to previous Hollywood sci-fi films, Project Hail Mary has performed significantly better in India, beating films like Interstellar, Dune: Part Two, The Martian, and Gravity in opening trends.
The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and follows the story of an astronaut who wakes up alone in space with no memory, carrying a mission that could save humanity.
With strong audience response, high demand for premium screens, and solid global earnings, Project Hail Mary is expected to continue its successful run in theatres.
