This Padma Shri Belongs to Telugu Audiences” – Rajendra Prasad

The Padma Awards announced on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day have brought great pride to Telugu cinema. Senior actor Rajendra Prasad has been selected for the prestigious Padma Shri by the Government of India.

Hailing from Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, Rajendra Prasad made his film debut in 1977 with Sneham. Over the past 48 years, he has played a wide variety of roles and won the love of audiences across generations, earning the respected title Nata Kireeti.”

Reacting to the honour, Rajendra Prasad said the award is a blessing from the people and the Telugu audience. He shared that he felt extremely happy the moment he heard the news and thanked the Government of India for recognising his journey.

He also expressed gratitude to the Andhra Pradesh Government and the elders who supported and recommended his name.

Calling it an award that truly belongs to the public, he said the audience has treated him like family for nearly five decades. He added that the love with which people call him “our Rajendra Prasad” is the biggest achievement of his life, and that the people of both Telugu states have always shown him the affection of a son.

Rajendra Prasad congratulated all the Padma awardees this year and requested his audience to continue blessing him, saying he will always remain their Rajendra Prasad.

This Padma Shri is not just a personal honour, but a celebration of his long-standing contribution to cinema and the strong bond he shares with Telugu audiences.
