Prime Video Drops Trailer of Telugu Crime Thriller Cheekatilo

Prime Video has unveiled the intense trailer of its latest Telugu original film Cheekatilo, a gripping crime thriller that promises suspense, emotion, and edge-of-the-seat storytelling. Directed by Sharan Kopishetty and produced by veteran filmmaker D. Suresh Babu under the Suresh Productions Pvt. Ltd. banner, the film is written by Chandra Pemmaraju and Sharan Kopishetty.

Set in the ever-evolving city of Hyderabad, Cheekatilo follows Sandhya, a true crime podcaster and criminology graduate played by Sobhita Dhulipala. Through her podcast, Sandhya begins investigating a shocking murder that opens the door to a series of dark secrets linked to a serial killer who vanished nearly two decades ago. As she digs deeper, the line between investigator and target starts to blur, pulling her into a dangerous game where every clue comes with a price.

The trailer gives a chilling glimpse into Hyderabad’s darker side, packed with tension, mystery, and emotional depth. Using her podcast as a powerful tool, Sandhya attempts to provoke the killer into revealing himself. As the pursuit intensifies, the story builds toward an unsettling question—will the truth finally surface, or will Sandhya pay the ultimate cost for chasing it?

The film stars Sobhita Dhulipala and Viswadev Rachakonda in lead roles, supported by Chaitanya Visalakshmi, Esha Chawla, Jhansi, Aamani, and Vadlamani Srinivas in key characters. Cheekatilo will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on January 23, streaming across India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Sharing his thoughts, director Sharan Kopishetty said that Cheekatilo goes beyond being a conventional crime thriller. According to him, the film explores themes of courage, silence, power, and the strength it takes to stand up for justice. He added that partnering with Prime Video helped bring this intense and grounded story to a global audience.

Sobhita Dhulipala described Sandhya as a strong, independent woman who refuses to back down from her beliefs. She said portraying a character rooted in Hyderabad’s culture felt natural and deeply personal. Calling the project special, Sobhita expressed gratitude for the cast, crew, and her continued collaboration with Prime Video, and said audiences will get to see a new side of her performance in Cheekatilo.

With its powerful premise and gripping tone, Cheekatilo gears up to deliver a nerve-racking crime drama when it premieres on January 23 on Prime Video.
