Eesha Promises Thrills and a Strong Theatrical Experience: Akhil Raj
After the success of Little Hearts and Raju Weds Rambayi, producers Bunny Vaas and Vamsi Nandipati are back with a new horror thriller titled Eesha. The film is being produced under the banners of Vamsi Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vaas Works and is set for a theatrical release on December 25.
Directed by Srinivas Manne, Eesha stars Akhil Raj and Trigun in lead roles, with Hebah Patel as the female lead. Siri Hanmanthu, Babloo, and Prithviraj play important supporting characters. The film is presented by veteran producer K. L. Damodar Prasad and produced by Hem Venkateswara Rao under HVR Productions.
Speaking to the media, Akhil Raj shared his thoughts about the film and his journey.
Talking about the quick release after Raju Weds Rambayi, Akhil Raj said that Eesha was actually signed much earlier. The release date came as a surprise. I was selected through auditions, and director Srinivas Manne chose me. I strongly believe the audience will accept this film, he said.
Recalling his first reaction to the script, Akhil Raj said he was instantly shocked and hooked. The story grabbed my attention immediately. Horror fans will enjoy a very different experience. The twists, lighting, visuals, and sound design are outstanding. This film is made purely for the theatre.
He added that even after watching the trailer, the impact remained the same. Bunny Vaas and Vamsi Nandipati have delivered successful films before, and I’m confident Eesha will continue that streak. This film will genuinely scare people.
Akhil Raj plays Vinay, one of four childhood friends in the story. Working with Trigun, Siri, Hebah Patel, and Mime Madhu was a great experience. I learned a lot, especially from director Srinivas Manne, he said.
On his preparation and involvement, Akhil Raj said, I give my best to every project. I’m actively promoting this film too. If the content is strong, success will follow on its own.
Sharing a shooting memory, he revealed, During the Araku schedule, I was bitten by an insect and suffered from fever for nearly a month. Apart from that, the shoot went smoothly.
Speaking about the background score, he said, The sound design is extremely scary. People with weak hearts should be careful—it’s that intense.
Explaining why he chose a horror film, Akhil Raj said he wants to explore different roles. So far, people have mostly seen me as Raju. Vinay is completely different. Horror gives great scope for performance. The director saw my work in the web series Sakhiya and offered me this role. I believe Eesha will give me strong recognition.
Talking about Raju Weds Rambayi, he said, That film changed my life. It gave me identity and recognition. I’ll always be grateful to that team.
When asked if he fears ghosts, Akhil Raj smiled and said, I was scared when I was younger, especially at night. But that fear has faded with age.
Praising the director, he said, Srinivas Manne has great clarity and confidence. He is especially strong in handling thrilling scenes. I believe Eesha will definitely succeed.
About future projects, Akhil Raj revealed that four to five films are currently in discussion. I’m also working on a film with Tarun Bhascker and Anupama, directed by Bhadri. This is my next project after Raju Weds Rambayi.
