Producers Madhura Sreedhar Reddy and Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy Interview Santhana Prapthirasthu

Santhana Prapthirasthu  A Heartfelt, Clean Family Entertainer with a Unique Take on Male Fertility

Producers Madhura Sreedhar Reddy and Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy open up about their upcoming film ahead of its grand release on November 14.

Bringing together romance, humour, and a socially relevant message, Santhana Prapthirasthu is gearing up to charm audiences in theatres this month. The film stars Vikranth and Chandini Chowdary in lead roles and is jointly produced by Madhura Sreedhar Reddy and Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy under the Madhura Entertainment and Nirvi Arts banners. Directed by Sanjeev Reddy with a screenplay by Sheikh Dawood G, the movie explores an unconventional yet important subject  male fertility  within the framework of a family-friendly love story.

A Sincere, Entertaining Story Told with Heart  Madhura Sreedhar Reddy

Producer Madhura Sreedhar Reddy shared that Santhana Prapthirasthu is a project that stands out for its honesty and emotional depth.

Sanjeev Reddy and I go way back. He was part of my film Ladies and Gentlemen as a writer, which went on to win the Nandi Award. Later, he directed ABCD with Allu Sirish and created the web series Aha Naa Pellanta. His ability to mix entertainment with emotion made him perfect for this story, said Sreedhar.

The film, initially planned for a 50-day schedule, was completed in just 56 days, staying right on track.

We first approached a few known heroes, but because the story revolves around male fertility issues, some were hesitant to take it up. Unlike Bollywood’s Ayushmann Khurrana, who embraces such bold roles, Telugu actors often worry about image. That’s when we decided to cast a fresh face like Vikranth, he revealed.

Despite its sensitive theme, the film is full of humour and charm.

It’s not a serious drama. The fun and emotions flow naturally. With actors like Vennela Kishore, Tarun Bhascker, Abhinav Gomatam, and Muralidhar Goud, the film will appeal to all sections of the audience, he added.

Describing it as a clean, musical family entertainer, Sreedhar compared it to Sammohanam in tone and feel.

After watching this film, people struggling with fertility issues will find courage and positivity. The message is simple  it’s okay to talk about it openly. India has more fertility centres than most countries, so why shy away from the topic? he said.

The title Santhana Prapthirasthu was initially longer  Seeghrameva Santhana Prapthirasthu  but later shortened for simplicity. Once the trailer came out, everyone felt the title was just right, he noted.

Changing Audience Mindsets

Sreedhar believes the pandemic changed the way people perceive cinema and its subjects.

Before COVID, I wouldn’t have shown this trailer to my family. But today, audiences are mature and open-minded thanks to OTT exposure. They want stories that are real and relevant, he said.

With strong pre-release buzz, the film is set to release in around 300 theatres in India and nearly 200 locations in the U.S., with international distribution by People’s Media Vishwaprasad.

When a rooted Telugu story connects emotionally, it automatically gains global appeal. I believe in making honest, content-driven films rather than chasing pan-India trends, he stated.

Calling Santhana Prapthirasthu a musical family entertainer, Sreedhar revealed that its songs and trailer have trended nationwide. Our music reached the 15th spot across India, and the trailer was among the top 40. That shows the strong connection audiences have felt, he said.

He also teased a sequel:

If this film wins hearts, we’ll make Santhana Prapthirasthu 2, this time dealing with fake fertility clinics.

A Small Film with a Big Message  Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy

Co-producer Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy, who comes from an IT background, said her debut production reflects her personal and professional world.

Since the film is set in an IT backdrop, many of my colleagues related instantly to the story. We wanted to handle a delicate subject like male fertility with maturity  no vulgarity, no offense, just sincerity and positivity, she shared.

Nirvi also runs an NGO called Friendly Welfare, which has been active since 2003. Our NGO experience inspired us to make films with purpose and impact, she said.

Like the saying goes, ‘Small bird, strong voice’  our film may be small in scale but it carries a big heart. We want to thank the media for standing by content-driven cinema. We’ll continue to collaborate with Madhura Sreedhar Garu on more meaningful projects.

She also noted that while many Telugu professionals in the U.S. show interest in filmmaking, they often underestimate the business side of cinema.

It’s not just about making a film; it’s about releasing it wisely. Working with experienced people ensures safety for newcomers. That’s why we’re planning to launch Debut Awards to honour new talent in all filmmaking departments, she announced.

A Film That Speaks with Warmth, Wit, and Hope

With its refreshing theme, soulful music, and clean family approach, Santhana Prapthirasthu promises to strike a perfect balance between entertainment and message.

Releasing worldwide on November 14, the film is positioned as one of the most honest and heartfelt Telugu family dramas of the year  a story that dares to talk about a taboo with grace, humour, and a whole lot of heart.
