Mallikharjuna Elika (Gopal) on Mutton Soup:Our Hard Work Has Finally Paid Off

“The Response to Mutton Soup is Truly Heartwarming” Producer Mallikharjuna Elika (Gopal)

The recently released film Mutton Soup, directed by Ramachandra Vattikuti and produced by Mallikharjuna Elika (Gopal), Arun Chandra Vattikuti, and Ramakrishna Sanapala under the banners of Aluka Studios, Sri Varahi Arts, and Bhavishya Vihar, has been receiving an overwhelming response since its release on October 10. Starring Raman, Varsha Vishwanath, and Gemini Suresh in lead roles, the film has struck a chord with audiences for its unique storytelling and realistic treatment.

In an interaction with the media, producer Mallikharjuna Elika (Gopal) opened up about his journey, the making of Mutton Soup, and his future plans.

From Tirupati to the Silver Screen

“I’m from Tirupati, but Hyderabad is where my connection with cinema truly began,” Gopal shared. “I’ve loved films since childhood and started my journey through writing. My short film Badi Pantulu even won a state-level award. My mother always dreamed of seeing my name on the big screen that dream has now come true, though it saddens me that she’s not here to witness it.”

Having worked across various departments in the film industry from assisting on projects to acting and teaching Gopal gradually built a solid foundation. “I’ve learned every aspect of filmmaking, and now I’m directing my own project,” he added.

The Birth of Mutton Soup

Revealing how the film came about, Gopal said, “I met Ramachandra while working on a horror film as a director. His commitment and hard work really impressed me. That’s how our collaboration began. I initially joined Mutton Soup as a co-director but was so inspired by Ramachandra’s passion that I decided to produce the film as well.”

Shaping a Real Story on the Editing Table

Since Mutton Soup is based on true incidents, the team faced the unique challenge of retelling a known story in a fresh, engaging way. “Everyone already knew the core incident, so we had to focus on how to tell it differently,” Gopal explained. “What’s interesting is that while the story was written one way, the final version of the film was shaped during editing. We literally made Mutton Soup at the editing table that’s where the real magic happened.”

A Supportive Cast and Team

Talking about the cast, he said, “Our hero Raman gave us incredible support. Varsha Vishwanath was extremely professional, and Gemini Suresh’s contribution was unforgettable. Every actor from Govind Srinivas and Shivaraj to Sunita Manohar and Master Vihar gave their best to make this film special.”

On the technical front, Gopal praised the entire crew. “Venky Veena’s music and background score gave the film tremendous emotional depth. Bharadwaj and Phanindra’s cinematography added a lot of strength. Every technician poured their heart into the project, and the response we’re getting is proof of their effort.”

A Heartwarming Response

“The audience response has been truly heartwarming,” Gopal smiled. “People are appreciating the gripping screenplay and how we handled the crime narrative. Seeing the audience react so positively makes us forget all the struggles we faced during the journey.”

What’s Next

Looking ahead, Gopal revealed that he has already started working on a horror film as a director. “As a producer, I want to keep supporting fresh talent and tell meaningful stories,” he said. “I’m also planning another exciting project with Ramachandra we’ll be announcing details soon.”
