Raj B Shetty Steps Into Karavali as Maveera

Raj B Shetty Joins Gurudatha Ganiga’s Karavali as Maveera A Fierce New Avatar Unveiled

After winning hearts with Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye and Toby, Kannada actor Raj B Shetty is back this time with a powerful new role in director Gurudatha Ganiga’s upcoming film Karavali.

Set in the rugged and culturally rich coastal belt of Karnataka, Karavali stars Prajwal Devaraj in the lead, and now sees Raj stepping in as Maveera a strong and mysterious character who has already caught everyone’s attention.

The first poster featuring Raj has gone viral. In it, he stands between two massive buffaloes, holding a whip, eyes fierce and focused. This raw and intense look has left fans asking is Maveera a Kambala racer or something more symbolic?

Director Gurudatha Ganiga shares that Maveera’s character is deeply rooted in the coastal soil and traditions. “When we started writing, we didn’t know who would play Maveera. Many actors liked the role, but something felt missing. Since the film is connected to coastal rituals and the spirit of Kambala, we needed someone who truly understood it.”

Raj was busy with other projects when first approached, but after several meetings and watching some of the film’s early footage, he agreed. “Raj didn’t just act—he became Maveera,” says Gurudatha.

Karavali is more than just a drama. It dives into themes of survival, loyalty, and the deep bond between humans and animals. The tagline “Animal vs Human” reflects these raw emotions.

The film also features Mitra in a key role, Ramesh Indira in a powerful performance, and Sampada as the female lead. Music is by Sachin Basrur and cinematography by Abhimanyu Sadanandan. Produced by VK Film Association and Ganiga Films, the movie is currently in its final stages of dubbing and patchwork.

Karavali is set to hit theatres later this year, and with Raj B Shetty’s striking transformation, the “Arrival of Maveera” promises to be a highlight Kannada audiences won’t forget.
