L2E: Empuraan, one of the most anticipated films in Indian cinema, is set for a grand worldwide release on March 27, 2025. Starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, this highoctane political actionthriller is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer and the second part of a planned trilogy.

The film will release in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and Tamil. With advance bookings already open, Empuraan is setting new records in ticket sales. In the Telugu states, ace producer Dil Raju is distributing the film through SVC.

As part of the promotions, the makers held a prerelease press meet in Hyderabad today. Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Dil Raju, cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev, actor Karthikeya Dev, and others attended the event.

Mohanlal: "Empuraan is Not Just a Sequel"

Speaking to the media, Mohanlal shared his excitement:

"Good afternoon, everyone. I wish I could speak in Telugu, but I’m not fluent enough. Thank you, Dil Raju garu, for supporting our film. As Prithvi said, the Telugu industry is the best in the country. The respect you show for cinema and artists is incredible. I’ve had the honor of working with legends like Nageswara Rao sir in my 47year career.

"In Kerala, we watch films from all languages, and now, we hope more people watch ours. Empuraan is a film very close to our hearts. When we made Lucifer, it was a unique experience for all film lovers, not just the Kerala audience. Empuraan is not just a sequel. We have already planned three films, and if this one succeeds, we will be back with the third part. We pray for the film’s success and hope to return here to celebrate its 50th or even 100th day in theaters."

Prithviraj Sukumaran: "Empuraan Pushes the Boundaries of Malayalam Cinema"

Director Prithviraj Sukumaran thanked Dil Raju for bringing the film to Telugu audiences.

This is not just another Malayalam film. It represents our entire industry’s effort to push boundaries. We hope Empuraan is the beginning of something bigger for Malayalam cinema. We’ve worked hard to ensure the Telugu version feels as authentic as possible, so please watch it in Telugu.

The overwhelming response to advance bookings has surprised us. We expected excitement, but this is beyond our imagination. Thank you for the love. Telugu cinema, though a regional industry, has now become India’s biggest film industry, thanks to its passionate audience. I hope Empuraan starts a similar journey for Malayalam cinema."

Dil Raju: "Empuraan Can Take Malayalam Cinema to the Next Level"

Producer Dil Raju praised the film’s scale:

"Baahubali showed us how regional films can reach a national and international level, followed by KGF and Pushpa. Now, it’s Prithviraj garu’s turn to take Malayalam cinema to the next level.

Lucifer was made on a ₹35 crore budget and became a blockbuster. Now, they have spent ₹150 crore on Empuraan. The teaser is spectacular, and the trailer, though 3 minutes and 45 seconds long, is filled with grandeur. Mohanlal garu’s screen presence is electrifying. I believe Empuraan will be a massive panIndia success."

Cast & Crew Share Their Excitement

Cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev: "I feel proud of this film and can’t wait for the audience to experience it."

Actor Karthikeya Dev: "I thank Prithviraj sir for trusting me with the role of Zayed. My character hides intense emotions, and when they erupt, there’s no stopping him. I feel blessed to be part of this project. Thank you, Mohanlal sir, for being so kind."
