Killer Artiste, directed by Ratan Rishi and produced by James Watt Kommu under SJK Entertainment, is a romantic thriller with a psychological edge. Starring Santosh Kalwacherla and Krisheka Patel in the lead roles, the film blends suspense, drama, and emotions. With music by Suresh Bobbili and cinematography by Chandoo AJ, the movie attempts to offer a fresh narrative experience. Does it succeed in keeping the audience engaged? Let's find out.
Story:
The plot follows Pachi Ravi (Kalakeya Prabhakar), an artist whose talent takes a dark turn, transforming him into a serial killer. While the police are on his trail, another storyline unfolds introducing Vicky (Santosh Kalwacherla) and his sister Swathi . Their strong sibling bond is shattered when Swathi is brutally murdered under mysterious circumstances. Devastated and determined, Vicky sets out to uncover the truth. Along the way, Janu (Krisheka Patel) plays a crucial role in his pursuit of justice. As the layers of mystery unfold, shocking truths come to light. Who is behind Swathi’s murder? How is it connected to Pachi Ravi’s story? These questions drive the suspense in this gripping thriller.
Performances:
Kalakeya Prabhakar delivers a compelling performance as the deranged artist-turned-killer, adding intensity to the film. Santosh Kalwacherla effectively portrays the emotional turmoil of a grieving brother, while Krisheka Patel makes a promising debut with a solid presence. Sneha Madhuri plays her part well, leaving an impact despite limited screen time. The supporting cast, including Satyam Rajesh, Tanikella Bharani, and Thagubothu Ramesh, contribute adequately to the film's proceedings.
Technical Aspects:
Suresh Bobbili’s music and background score play a key role in enhancing the film’s suspenseful atmosphere. The cinematography by Chandoo AJ gives the film a polished look, with visually striking frames. Editing by RM Viswanath Kuchanapalli is decent, but a tighter screenplay could have helped maintain the film’s grip throughout. The production values are commendable for a film of this scale, with the makers ensuring a visually engaging experience.
Verdict:
Killer Artiste has an intriguing premise and a few well-executed moments. While the film starts on a strong note, the screenplay falters at times, affecting its overall impact. However, the emotional depth, performances, and engaging climax make it a decent watch, especially for those who enjoy psychological thrillers with a romantic twist. If you’re looking for a different kind of thriller this weekend, Killer Artiste might be worth a try.
