Nenekkadunna is an Edge-of-the-Seat Thriller – Mimoh Chakraborty
Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty’s son, Mimoh Chakraborty, is making his debut as a hero in Telugu cinema with Nenekkadunna. The film, directed by debutant Madhav Kodada, features Airtel fame Sasha Chettri as the female lead. Produced by Maruthi Shyam Prasad Reddy under the KBR banner, this thriller is set to hit the screens on February 28. Ahead of its release, Mimoh interacted with Telugu media and shared his excitement.
Stepping into Tollywood
"Finally, Nenekkadunna is releasing, and I am thrilled," Mimoh said. "I have grown up watching South Indian films. My father owns a hotel in Ooty, and during my childhood, I was constantly exposed to Telugu and Tamil movies. So, stepping into Tollywood feels natural and exciting."
Mithun Chakraborty’s Reaction
Mimoh revealed that his father was delighted when he signed a Telugu film. "He told me, ‘Give it your 100%. Language should never be a barrier for an actor.’ He encouraged me to explore different industries, whether it’s Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, or Bhojpuri. He was happy that I got this opportunity in Telugu cinema and advised me not to worry about the language."
A Story That Stood Out
Nenekkadunna is centered around female journalism, but Mimoh insists that it is not just a message-driven film. "It is a complete entertainer with action, songs, and gripping sequences. The movie sheds light on the importance of female journalists and their resilience while keeping audiences engaged with a thrilling storyline."
Landing the Role
Mimoh shared how he came on board. "Sasha Chettri was already cast, and the team was looking for the right actor for my role. A friend of mine recommended me, and soon, director Madhav Kodada flew to Mumbai to narrate the story. The moment I heard it, I knew I had to do this film. It’s a perfect Telugu debut for me."
Open to Villain Roles
When asked about playing different kinds of roles, Mimoh was enthusiastic. "I would love to play a villain. I think I have the perfect look for negative roles. As an actor, I don’t want to restrict myself. I am open to playing comedians and supporting characters as well—anything that challenges me."
Working with Madhav Kodada
Praising his director, Mimoh said, "Madhav Kodada has put in years of effort into this project. He worked hard to bring this story to life. He is very passionate about his work, much like seasoned directors I have worked with. He explains the scene and then gives the actors the freedom to perform."
Thriller with a Shocking Twist
Describing Nenekkadunna as a thrilling ride, Mimoh shared, "There are not many songs in the film since it is a thriller. I have one song, but the film is primarily focused on keeping the audience hooked. The ending has a major twist—when I first heard it, even I couldn’t predict it. The film carries an important message while keeping the suspense intact."
Bond with His Father
Mimoh also spoke about his father’s work in Telugu cinema. "I watched Gopala Gopala, where my father played an important role. Now, he is acting in Prabhas’ Fauji. To the world, he is a superstar, but to me, he is my father first. We share a close bond, more like friends than just father and son."
Favorite Telugu Stars & Upcoming Projects
Listing his favorite South Indian heroes, Mimoh said, "I admire Pawan Kalyan, Prabhas, and Thalapathy Vijay. I’m also a huge fan of Rajinikanth. I would love to work with all the big stars in the industry."
Speaking about his future projects, he added, "I am currently working on Haunted 2, a sequel to the film I did with Vikram Bhatt 13 years ago. Apart from that, I am also part of Khakee Season 2 on Netflix."
With Nenekkadunna gearing up for release, Mimoh Chakraborty is all set to make a mark in Tollywood with his debut thriller.
