SJ Suryah, the acclaimed director-turned-actor, is known for delivering diverse performances in recent blockbuster films. He is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie, Game Changer. Directed by Shankar, this political action drama, starring Global Star Ram Charan, is set for a worldwide release on January 10.

Suryah, who plays a crooked politician in the movie, recently spoke to the media about his role, experiences, and thoughts on the film. Here are excerpts from the conversation:

Q: This is your second collaboration with Shankar garu after Bharateeyudu 2. Did you ever imagine working with him when you transitioned from directing to acting?

Suryah: As an actor, it’s everyone’s dream to work with a director of Shankar sir’s caliber. His stature in Indian cinema is unmatched. Opportunities like this only come when you’ve proven yourself, and I’m grateful my previous work led me to this chance.

Q: How did you feel when Shankar sir approached you for both Bharateeyudu 2 and Game Changer?

Suryah: The offer for Game Changer came first. Shankar sir was impressed with my performance during this project and later offered me a role in Bharateeyudu 2. His way of explaining scenes by enacting them inspired me and helped me deliver my best.

Q: Can you describe your character in Game Changer and your reaction when Shankar narrated it to you?

Suryah: The story revolves around the clash between an honest collector and a self-serving politician. Initially, the premise seemed typical, but Shankar sir’s brilliant scene design and the nuances he brought to my character left me awestruck.

Q: Your recent roles blend energy and entertainment. We hear your character in Game Changer amplifies that. Is it true?

Suryah: Absolutely. Shankar sir crafted my characterization, mannerisms, and dialogues beautifully. I have four distinct getups in the movie—two are in the trailer, and the others are a surprise for the audience.

Q: Are you playing a dual role?

Suryah: No, it’s a single role with multiple shades.

Q: As a celebrated director, did you ever feel hesitant working under another director?

Suryah: Never. When I transitioned to acting, I started afresh. Even though I’m an established director, working with giants like Shankar sir is a dream come true.

Q: How would the director in you rate your acting?

Suryah: I’d give myself a 100/100! But ultimately, what matters is the audience’s opinion.

Q: You’ve worked with Pawan Kalyan garu and now Ram Charan garu. Any similarities between them?

Suryah: Both are dedicated to their craft. Pawan garu’s ideology has remained consistent he’s always been about serving the people. Charan garu, on the other hand, is an incredibly sincere and humble actor. His portrayal of IAS officer Appanna in Game Changer is phenomenal and will be a highlight of the film.

Q: Did you accept Game Changer for the role or because it was a Shankar sir film?

Suryah: I never take on a role I don’t like. But for Shankar sir, I’d have signed even without knowing the story. Directors like him have revolutionized Indian cinema, and working under him is an honor.

Q: Did the director in you ever suggest changes during the shoot?

Suryah: No. On set, I’m an actor, not a director. Shankar sir is a master craftsman, and his attention to detail is unparalleled.

Q: Is there a similarity between Ram Charan’s character in the film and Pawan Kalyan’s real-life persona?

Suryah: Yes. Both embody a desire to serve the country and are willing to go to great lengths for it.

Q: Who else will stand out in the movie, apart from Ram Charan?

Suryah: My character, of course! (laughs)

Q: How was your experience working with Ram Charan?

Suryah: Incredible. During a shoot in Mysore, he personally invited me for dinner and praised my performance. He’s a kind, grounded person.

Q: You’ve dubbed in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. Was it challenging?

Suryah: Not at all. I immerse myself completely, both on set and in the dubbing studio.

Q: Any memorable dialogues in Game Changer?

Suryah: Definitely, but you’ll have to watch the movie to find out!

Q: Is your character inspired by a real-life politician?

Suryah: (laughs) You’ll understand when you see it!

Q: This is Dil Raju garu’s dream project. Can you elaborate?

Suryah: Dil Raju garu’s passion is evident in every frame of this film. From the grandeur of the 'Jaragandi' song to his involvement on set, he’s an all-rounder who gave his best to this project.

Q: What was the most challenging aspect of this role?

Suryah: Apart from dubbing in Hindi, nothing felt challenging. I do my homework thoroughly, so I’m always prepared.

Q: Your favorite character from your acting career?

Suryah: Mopidevi in Game Changer is my favorite. It’s my career’s best.

Q: Are you working on any Telugu projects?

Suryah: Yes, there are some exciting ones. I’ll announce them soon.

Q: Any chance of collaborating with Akira Nandan?

Suryah: I recently met him at the airport, and he’s impressive. Like his father, he’s deeply thoughtful and intellectual. I hope we get to work together someday.

Q: Any discussions about Kushi 2 with Pawan Kalyan garu?

Suryah: We discussed it in the past, but now he’s focused on serving people. For now, it’s on hold.

SJ Suryah is confident that Game Changer will be a milestone in his acting career. His portrayal of Mopidevi promises to be an unforgettable performance. Fans are eagerly waiting for the film’s release on January 10.
