Director Sukumar Praises Daughter Sukriti's Performance in Gandhi Tatha Chettu

Gandhi Tatha Chettu, featuring Sukumar Bandreddi’s daughter Sukriti Veni Bandreddi in the lead role, is set to hit theaters on January 24th. Directed by Padmavati Malladi, the film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings, and Gopi Talkies, with Tabitha Sukumar presenting the project. Naveen Yerneni, Yalamanchili Ravishankar, and Shesha Sindhu Rao are the joint producers.

At a recent media interaction in Hyderabad, Sukumar expressed his admiration for Sukriti's talent. “She has always loved singing and began at the age of 14. Initially, I was hesitant to allow her to act because I thought she was just playful at home. When Gandhi Tatha Chettu came along, I had my doubts. However, after Padmavati insisted, I allowed her to audition. The moment I saw her first clip, I was pleasantly surprised. I expect top-notch acting from my artists, and Sukriti exceeded my expectations,” he said. He reflected on his rigorous casting process for his films, mentioning that it often takes months to finalize actors, as was the case for Rangasthalam and Pushpa.

Sukumar proudly declared, "I won't shy away from boasting that my daughter has performed exceptionally well. Producer Sindhu Rao worked tirelessly to complete the film, and Padmavati's gripping script captivated me from the start. I’ve always believed that those who narrate well can also execute great films. When I narrated Arya to Chiranjeevi, there were doubts about my inexperience, but he assured them of my storytelling skills."

He further praised Padmavati, stating, "Without a doubt, she will go far in her career. I am grateful to her for casting my daughter. Lavanya, who plays my daughter’s mother, has also delivered an outstanding performance. It was a bit funny for me to see Sukriti call someone else her parent in the film (laughs). My goal has always been to entertain audiences, and if that entertainment comes with a meaningful message, it’s a bonus. I sincerely wish for Gandhi Tatha Chettu to become a blockbuster.”

Tabitha Sukumar shared her initial doubts about Sukriti's acting abilities but acknowledged the director's faith in her talent. “I thank Mythri Movie Makers and my husband for bringing this film to the audience. After receiving recognition at various film festivals, I wished for a theatrical release, and now it's becoming a reality. I urge the audience to support Gandhi Tatha Chettu.” She became emotional as she spoke about her daughter's journey.

The film has already been showcased at numerous international film festivals and has garnered multiple awards, with Sukriti winning the Best Child Artist award for her role.

The cast of Gandhi Tatha Chettu includes Sukriti Veni, Anand Chakrapani, Raghuram, Bhanu Prakash, Nehal Anand Kunkuma, and Rag Mayur. The film features music by Re, cinematography by Srijith Cheruvupalli and Vishwa Devabattula, and editing by Harishankar TN. The lyrics are penned by Suddala Ashok Teja, Kasarla Shyam, and Vishwa. Production design is by V. Nani Pandu, co-produced by Ashok Bandreddy, and executive produced by Abhinay Chilukamarri. The film is written and directed by Padmavati Malladi.
