Zee5's 'Amrutham Dhvitheeyam' lockdown special on May 27
Zee5 has had a leading position in dishing out entertainment during these lockdown times. As an OTT platform, it has presented its patrons a number of specials. Its comedy web series 'Amrutham Dhvitheeyam' has been one of them. It's announced that two episodes of a lockdown special segment will be premiered from May 27. The makers have also released a special teaser of the same. Starting from June 25, regular 'Amrutham Dhvitheeyam' special episodes will be premiered every month. The team of the comedy show and Zee5's Creative Head Prasad Nimmakayala have interacted with the media via a webinar to make the announcement formal.
Director Sandeep Gunnam of 'Amrutham Dhvitheeyam' said, "As a director, I was particular about going with writer Gunnam Gangaraju garu (also its producer), Harshavardhan for Amrutha Rao, Sivannarayana for Appaji, and Vasu for Sarvam. The ever-so-satisfying LB Sriram garu was chosen to play Anji. It's a 24-episode series. Three of them have been live. After the lockdown, the rest of the episodes will be put up. The idea is to premier three episodes per month. To make the comedy situational and in tune with current issues, the episodes have been shot suitably. Three episodes that were shot before the lockdown are currently under post-production. As a lockdown special, two short episodes of 10 and 8 minutes have been conceived. Vasu has written the script. My father (Gunnam Gangaraju) has read the script. The actors have been briefed. They shot their portions from their home and sent us. Harshavardhan has directed two episodes."
Zee5 Creative Lead Prasad Nimmakayala said, "'Amrutham Dhvitheeyam', which was released on Ugadi, has been received very well. I am a fan of Amrutham serial. When I joined Zee5, our CEO Mr. Tarun Katial told me to do whatever it takes and bring Amrutham back. It's not easy to convince Gangaraju garu. There has been a huge public demand for Amrutham. The two lockdown special episodes, shot entirely in the safety of the individual actors' homes. We are dedicating the two lockdown special episodes to Covid-19 warriors working on the frontline"
LB Sriram, who plays Anji in 'Amrutham Dhvitheeyam', said, "After 'GOD', this is the next big project that I signed up for Zee5. It's a matter of honour for me. I thank Prasad Nimmakayala garu and Zee5 for the opportunity. While we chose Ugadi because it's an auspicious occasion, God had other plans. It has been a great experience working with director Sundeep."
Harshavardhan said, "It was due to public demand that Gunnam Gangaraju garu restarted the journey of Amrutham. At a time when he was contemplating to write something else, the fans of Amrutham kept on pushing him to recreate the magic of Amrutham. Amrutham is like the sweet you have after a nice meal. It's universally liked by one and all. Even if you take biryani, it feels incomplete if you don't eat curd rice. That's what Amrutham is like."
Sivannarayana said, "I don't see any difference between Amrutham and 'Amrutham Dhvitheeyam'. Only that LB Sriram garu has replaced Gundu Hanumantha Rao garu. As a senior, he is getting his timing perfectly. Our characters' essence has been retained while keeping the humour quotient intact. It has been more than 15 years since this journey started. People haven't forgotten us."
