The Council noted that its representation submitted to the Government through the AP FDC on September 24, 2026, was positively considered. As part of the revival, the Nandi Awards are proposed to be presented under three categories Golden Nandi, Silver Nandi and Bronze Nandi.
The Council also welcomed the Government’s consideration of reviving the prestigious N.T.R. National Film Award for the years 2017–2024.
The Nandi Awards, instituted in 1964, have a special place in the history of Telugu cinema. Over the decades, the awards have served as an important recognition for actors, directors, technicians and several other professionals whose contributions have shaped the Telugu film industry.
According to the Telugu Film Producers Council, restoring the awards will provide a valuable platform to acknowledge deserving talent and motivate the next generation of filmmakers and technicians. It also represents an opportunity to preserve the legacy and cultural importance of Telugu cinema.
The Council appealed to the Andhra Pradesh Government and the coalition parties to carry forward this initiative and ensure that deserving artists, technicians and other professionals are honoured through the Nandi Film Awards.
The Telugu Film Producers Council once again expressed its appreciation to the Andhra Pradesh Government and all those who played a role in bringing back these prestigious awards.
