Chef Sashi Cheliah Joins Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Celebrity MasterChef Tamil as Judge
The Celebrity MasterChef Tamil kitchen is getting ready for another exciting addition, with MasterChef Australia winner Chef Sashi Cheliah joining the show as a Judge.
Presented by Sony VIZHA and Sony LIV, Celebrity MasterChef Tamil is hosted by Samantha Ruth Prabhu and brings together well-known celebrities as they step into the kitchen, take on challenging cooking tasks and showcase their culinary skills.
Chef Sashi Cheliah comes to the show with an inspiring journey of his own. Long before entering the world of professional cooking, he served with the Singapore Police Force. His decision to pursue his passion for food eventually took him to MasterChef Australia, where he emerged as the winner and earned a special place in the culinary world.
Sashi’s cooking is deeply connected to his roots. Growing up with Indian and Southeast Asian flavours, he developed a style that combines his childhood influences with his own creativity and love for food. Having experienced the pressure of competing in the MasterChef kitchen himself, he now takes on a completely different role as a Judge.
Talking about his new responsibility, Chef Sashi Cheliah said that his journey to the MasterChef kitchen was unexpected. After beginning his career with the Singapore Police Force, he never imagined that he would eventually compete on MasterChef Australia and go on to win the title.
He also recalled how the Indian and Southeast Asian flavours he grew up with played an important role in shaping his cooking and helping him connect food with his roots and personal story.
Sashi added that joining Celebrity MasterChef Tamil as a Judge is particularly meaningful because he understands the emotions contestants experience firsthand — from nervousness and pressure to the excitement of creating something they can be proud of.
He is now looking forward to meeting the celebrity contestants, challenging them to step outside their comfort zones and discovering the unique flavours and stories they bring to the competition.
With Samantha Ruth Prabhu leading the show and Chef Sashi Cheliah adding his experience and perspective to the judging panel, Celebrity MasterChef Tamil is set to bring together food, entertainment, celebrity personalities and plenty of kitchen drama.
