“Sampraadayini Suppini Suddhapusani is a Complete Family Entertainer That Will Connect With Every Audience,” Says Actress Laya

After delivering memorable entertainers like Missamma, Adirindayya Chandram, and Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila, the popular on-screen pair Shivaji and Laya are reuniting after nearly two decades for Sampraadayini Suppini Suddhapusani. Following the successful films Little Hearts and Raju Weds Rambayi, producers Bunny Vasu and Vamsi Nandipati are bringing this project to audiences in collaboration with ETV Win.

Mounted under the Sri Shivaji Productions banner and produced by Shivaji himself, the film is presented by Rikki in association with ETV Win and directed by Sudheer Sriram. The recently unveiled trailer has generated strong buzz, positioning the film as a crime-comedy family thriller packed with entertainment. The movie is slated for a grand theatrical release on March 6. Speaking to the media, actress Laya shared her excitement and insights about the film.

Reuniting With Shivaji After 20 Years

Laya expressed her happiness about collaborating with Shivaji again after almost 20 years. Initially, she believed the project to be a family drama. However, upon learning that it was a full-fledged comedy entertainer, she felt thrilled, as comedy is her favorite genre. She described the film as one that appeals to audiences across all age groups. Blending humor with unexpected twists and thrilling elements, the film falls under the dark comedy crime-thriller space. She mentioned that she sensed something special about the script the moment she heard it.

Her Role in the Film

Laya plays the character Uttara, a role unlike anything she has portrayed before. She described it as a strong and impactful character that even dominates a powerful personality like Mangapathi’s. She revealed that Shivaji was very supportive throughout the shoot and encouraged her greatly. According to her, the scenes between them will be a major highlight, filled with laughter and comic timing.

From OTT to Theatres

The film was originally planned for a theatrical release, but at one stage there were discussions about releasing it on OTT. Laya admitted she was slightly disappointed, as she is accustomed to watching her performances on the big screen. However, after several industry personalities viewed the film and felt it deserved a theatrical outing, the makers decided to release it in cinemas. She shared that her daughter was particularly upset at the thought of an OTT release, as she prefers watching her mother’s films in theatres. Now that it’s heading to the silver screen, the family is delighted.

Expectations From the Film

Laya expressed confidence in the film’s success, noting the overwhelmingly positive response to the trailer. She believes the movie will thoroughly entertain viewers and leave them satisfied. According to her, it is a wholesome entertainer that caters to all sections of the audience.

On Shivaji’s Passion for Cinema

Speaking about Shivaji, Laya highlighted his deep passion for cinema. She observed that his dedication has only grown stronger over the years. She described him as someone who constantly thinks about how best to present the film to audiences and ensures it reaches them in the right way.

About Director Sudheer Sriram

Laya praised director Sudheer Sriram for his clarity of vision and strong execution. She appreciated the way he shaped the story and brought out the performances he envisioned from his actors. She described him as a focused filmmaker who knows exactly what he wants and does not compromise on quality.

A Different Shade of Laya

Known for emotional roles in the past, Laya revealed that this film showcases a completely different side of her. Instead of evoking tears, her character makes others cry in a humorous way. She described Uttara as slightly self-centered, deeply protective of her husband and family, and determined to ensure their well-being at all costs. It’s a role she thoroughly enjoyed portraying.

 Future Projects

Looking ahead, Laya mentioned that she is open to both lead and character roles, as long as the script and character are strong. She expressed her desire to take on more powerful and layered roles going forward. She is currently working on Vadhalu, where she plays Jagapathi Babu’s wife in a psychological thriller. Additionally, she is part of a socio-fantasy film with Srikanth, directed by Nageswara Reddy, in the style of Yamaleela. Through these projects, she aims to explore diverse genres and showcase new dimensions of her acting talent.
