 ‘Bhava Rasa Natyotsavam – Season 1’ Celebrated with Grandeur

Under the aegis of Madalasa – Space for Divine Art, ‘Bhava Rasa Natyotsavam – Season 1’ was held in a grand and splendid manner. The visually captivating event took place on Sunday evening, January 4, at Phoenix Arena, Hyderabad, where renowned artists presented classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam, leaving the audience spellbound.

The festival featured an elegant Bharatanatyam performance by Vidwan Manju V. Nair from Kerala, a graceful Mohiniyattam recital by Vidwan Swapna Rajendrakumar from Bengaluru, and a powerful Bharatanatyam presentation by Hyderabad-based Vidwan Soujanya Srinivas. All three acclaimed dancers mesmerized the audience with their exceptional talent and expressive artistry.

The program was ceremoniously inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Sri Suresh Chukkapalli, Emeritus Chairman of the Phoenix Group. The evening began on an auspicious note with Soujanya Srinivas opening the performances with the Ganesha kriti “Sri Vighnarajam Bhaje,” composed by Oothukkadu Venkata Subbaiyer in Gambhiranattai raga.

One after another, the dancers took to the stage and delivered performances that delighted even Nataraja himself. A Mohiniyattam Varnam in Saramathi raga, composed by Sri Thrissur Mohan Kumar, was beautifully presented by Swapna Rajendrakumar. Soujanya Srinivas performed a compelling Bharatanatyam rendition of the Ardhanareeshwara Stotram, composed by Adi Shankaracharya in Ragamalika raga. Manju Nair presented Shiva Prasada Panchakam in Ragamalika raga through Bharatanatyam.

Manju Nair further impressed with a Bharatanatyam performance of an Ashtapadi set in Simhendramadhyamam raga, followed by a soulful presentation of an Anjaneya Keertana in Shuddha Sarang raga. Soujanya Srinivas delivered an outstanding performance to Tyagaraja’s kriti “Endaro Mahanubhavulu” in Sri raga. The evening concluded with an enchanting Mohiniyattam Tillana in Bhoopalam raga, performed by Swapna Rajendrakumar.

Spanning over two hours, the event stood as a glowing tribute to the richness and timeless beauty of Indian classical dance, offering audiences a truly memorable artistic experience.
