Priyadarshi Interview about Mithra Mandali

Mithra Mandali will make everyone laugh and connect emotionally – Priyadarshi

Grand worldwide release on October 16

The much-awaited comedy entertainer Mithra Mandali is all set for a grand worldwide release on October 16. Presented by Bunny Vas under the BV Works banner and produced by Kalyan Manthena, Bhanu Pratap, and Dr. Vijender Reddy Teegala under Saptaswa Media Works, the film is directed by Vijender and stars Priyadarshi and Niharika NM in lead roles. The ensemble cast also features Brahmanandam, Vennela Kishore, Satya, Vishnu Oi, Ragh Mayur, Prasad Behra, and VTV Ganesh in key roles.

As part of the film’s promotions, Priyadarshi spoke to the media and shared his thoughts with characteristic wit and warmth.

It’s a film born out of friendship

When I first heard Vijender narrate the story, I was in splits. The madness, the wit, the unique humor it reminded me of my early days with friends like Anudeep and Kalyan Shankar. They were all roommates once, and you can sense that shared energy in this film. Mithra Mandali isn’t just a movie it’s a celebration of friendship, both on and off screen. From Bunny Vas to the cast and crew, everyone poured their heart into it.

On choosing Mithra Mandali after Jathi Ratnalu

When Anudeep narrated Jathi Ratnalu, I instantly loved his take on humor rooted in social satire. Vijender’s writing carries that same spark it’s sharp, funny, and thought-provoking. He’s taken on social structures like caste and class with subtle wit. But I’ve always believed films shouldn’t preach. They should make you laugh, think, and leave with a smile that’s exactly what Mithra Mandali does.

Comedy shouldn’t come at someone’s expense

Addressing the social media chatter, Priyadarshi said, There’s nothing wrong in trying to make people laugh. But mocking others for it that’s what I call cringe. Not everyone gets every joke, and that’s fine. Comedy is subjective, but kindness should never go out of style.

On comparisons with Jathi Ratnalu

People naturally compare comedies, but Mithra Mandali stands apart. It’s not a sequel or a spiritual successor it’s its own world. After Jathi Ratnalu, I made films like 35 – Chinna Katha Kadu and Court to explore different genres. I like surprising myself and the audience. I never sign a film that feels repetitive.

On facing online negativity

There’s always a section that thrives on hate, often from behind fake profiles. Constructive criticism is welcome we learn from that. But targeted negativity? You just have to laugh it off. That’s why we made a fun video responding to it. We wanted to show we can take a joke too!

On Mithra Mandali’s buzz overseas

The response from overseas Telugu audiences has been amazing. They truly value good Telugu cinema. I’m confident Mithra Mandali will connect with them because it’s packed with universal humor and heartwarming moments.

On working with Niharika NM

She’s a natural! Even though she’s known for her digital content, she adapted effortlessly to the film’s rhythm. Being Telugu helped her gel with the team quickly. She’s brought great energy to the film.

What I imagined in narration is what I saw on screen

When Vijender narrated the story, I could visualize every scene. And when I finally watched the film, it matched that vision perfectly. That’s rare. I can say with full confidence Mithra Mandali will entertain everyone, from start to finish.

On his bold statement about the film

When I said, ‘If you don’t like Mithra Mandali, don’t watch my next films,’ it came from pure confidence and love. It wasn’t arrogance just belief in the effort we all put in. I genuinely think people will walk out smiling.

Upcoming projects

I’m currently shooting for Premante, and there are two more scripts I’ve greenlit. Announcements will follow soon.

On the story and paid premieres

The story is fictional, but it has that relatable Telugu flavor witty, emotional, and satirical without offending anyone. It’s meant for everyone to enjoy.

As for the paid premieres it’s an exciting experiment. Yes, we’ll be the first to get audience feedback, but I see it as a positive step. At the end of the day, the audience decides everything.

Priyadarshi signs off with a smile:

We made Mithra Mandali with laughter, love, and friendship. I hope people watch it the same way with their hearts. And yes… Happy Diwali to everyone!
