From Producer to Director: Seven Hills Satish Embarks on a New Creative Journey
Renowned producer Seven Hills Satish, known for backing distinctive films like Battala Ramaswamy Biopic, Coffee with a Killer, and Solo Boy under his Seven Hills Productions banner, is now taking a major step forward in his cinematic career. On the occasion of his birthday (October 23), Satish announced that he is turning director fulfilling a dream he has cherished since his early days in the film industry.
At a special press meet, Satish shared that while his original goal was to become a director, he began his career as a producer to gain a complete understanding of filmmaking. Having produced three films and gained in-depth experience across all crafts, he now feels ready to take the director’s chair.
Revealing details about his ongoing projects, Satish stated that two more films are currently being made under his banner one helmed by renowned editor Praveen Pudi, and another by Rajasekhar Gaddam, which is presently in the scripting stage. He also mentioned that the much-anticipated project starring Narne Nithin, originally set to roll on Ugadi, was postponed for story refinement but will go on floors soon.
Satish expressed that his mentor, director V.V. Vinayak, inspired him to pursue direction while he’s still young advice that pushed him to make this career-defining decision. His directorial debut will be made under a close friend’s banner and is expected to go on floors next year.
Celebrating his birthday with the media for the first time, Satish cut a cake and expressed his joy in sharing his special day with fans especially since his birthday coincides with that of superstar Prabhas.
Satish on His New Direction
Speaking at the event, Satish said,
This is the first time I’ve celebrated my birthday with the media. My friends insisted I do it, and I’m glad they did. Producing three films has given me valuable lessons about every department of filmmaking. V.V. Vinayak garu once told me to start directing while I still have the energy and passion and that’s what I’m doing now.
He added that he plans to make a content-driven entertainer as his debut directorial venture.
A debut film defines a director’s identity. I don’t want to make a message-heavy film audiences today prefer entertainment that makes them smile. Films like Balagam and Little Hearts have shown that good content always finds success. I’m planning a fun, emotional story with strong content on a controlled budget. Success depends on honesty and effort that’s what I believe in.
Satish also revealed that he prefers working with newcomers, just as he did in his earlier productions, as it allows creative freedom and smoother collaboration.
All three of my films featured fresh faces. I’ll continue that as a director too. But if I get an opportunity to work with a big hero, I’d definitely take it. My dream is to one day direct Natural Star Nani, who is my favorite actor.
A Journey of Passion and Perseverance
Reflecting on his film journey, Satish shared how his love for cinema brought him full circle.
I started as an assistant director and later stepped away to earn through real estate before returning as a producer. The film industry isn’t easy, but it’s where my heart truly belongs. You need not just passion, but a bit of madness to survive here and I have that madness for cinema.
Satish maintains close ties with several acclaimed directors, including Venky Atluri, Sagar Chandra, Sampath Nandi, and Balagam Venu. He has also worked with Suresh Productions, collaborating with filmmakers like Nandini Reddy, Match Ravi, and Nani in the direction department.
Concluding his remarks, Satish emphasized his commitment to meaningful storytelling:
Choosing the right story is everything. I’ve always been careful about the scripts I produce. My goal as a director is to make films that connect with the audience on a deeper level. I want my first film to prove that honest filmmaking still wins hearts.
With a clear vision and renewed creative energy, Seven Hills Satish is all set to step into the director’s chair blending his experience as a producer with his long-held dream of storytelling from behind the camera.
