₹300 Crore Scam Rocks Chitrapuri – Film Workers Demand Arrest of President Vallabhaneni Anil
Hyderabad: A massive protest erupted at the Film Development Corporation (FDC) office on Wednesday, with film workers and union leaders alleging a ₹300 crore scam in the Chitrapuri Cooperative Housing Society. The protestors demanded the immediate arrest of society president Vallabhaneni Anil Kumar, accusing him and his committee of large-scale corruption, selling flats on the black market, and denying rightful homes to genuine film workers.
Leaders from Chitrapuri Porata Samithi and CITU claimed that instead of building affordable single and double-bedroom flats for workers, the committee plans to construct luxury flats of 1200–4400 sq. ft. for outsiders. They alleged collusion with HMDA and political influence from the CMO’s office.
Court Orders Ignored
Protestors highlighted that Vallabhaneni Anil already faces 15 FIRs and 10 charge sheets and has been jailed twice. They accused officials of ignoring Telangana High Court orders in multiple writ petitions to take action against the committee.
Allegations Against Government
They blamed government inaction on political involvement in the scam, demanding Chief Minister intervention. They also alleged that some ministers were misleading Co-operative Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao.
Demands:
Give homes to 6,000 members who paid 20–25 years ago.
Cancel 1,000 new memberships immediately.
Dissolve the current committee and appoint an ad-hoc body.
Build only single and double-bedroom flats for eligible film workers.
Act against officials ignoring High Court orders.
The protest saw participation from leaders including Kasturi Srinivas, Sankuri Ravinder, Bhadra, Sivashankar Patel, Hema Sudarshan, Gadam Lalitha, Ramesh Varma, Srinu, C.H. Prakash, Om Prakash, Gopala Krishna, and Maddineni Ramesh.
